Course Directory / Ireland / County Cork
Making up Ireland's southernmost coast, County Cork is not only the largest county by area but the second most populated. It is home to the famous Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle, where legend has it those who kiss it become endowed with the "gift of gab."
Cork has also earned the nickname "The Gourmet County" as its culinary reputation, especially for seafood, has earned high praise. A tour through Cork will reveal farmers' markets, fisheries and plenty of restaurants to taste the best of Ireland. Not only is the city of Cork a top culinary hotspot, but the smaller town of Kinsale, complete with a sailing harbor, is also a favorite place to find a meal.
Among the abundant golf courses in Cork are many that are more than a century old, including Bandon Golf Club and Douglas Golf Club. But perhaps Ireland's most incredible setting for golf is one of its newest: Old Head Golf Links. Set on an exposed peninsula high above the sea, golfers enjoy 360-degree sea views. Also in Kinsale is the historic Kinsale Golf Club, a parkland club with 36 holes dating back to 1922. Castlemartyr Resort boasts an inland-links style course on a scenic manor estate.
For picturesque resort golf, Fota Island features three, championship-worthy golf courses, including the the former Irish Open venue, the Deerpark course.
