It was in July of 2005 that the Royal Bank of Scotland issued a special commemorative five pound banknote in honor of Jack Nicklaus for his final appearance at the British Open. But, almost one year earlier - on May 14th of 2004 - Nicklaus had been on hand to announce the release of another special 5 pound note. This note was to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Royal & Ancient golf club at St. Andrews and, in addition to the image of the R&A clubhouse from the 18th hole and the Claret Jug, Old Tom Morris is located in the top left corner.
