July 1, 2008
It’s Tuesday, the 1st day of July and you might win a Cobra Baffler DWS hybrid - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
Hi, everyone, Keri Murphy back again with another edition of GolfNow’s trivia contest. Our featured course for today is Bridges Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin - another course in our GolfNow network where you can save when you book your tee times online with us at www.GolfNow.com. Oh, and be sure to stick around for the end of today’s show because I’ve got an announcement to make that I’m really excited about.
Okay, I don’t know how long some of you have been playing our trivia contest, but during our very first week way back in January of last year, we talked about a special five pound note that the Royal Bank of Scotland issued with Jack Nicklaus on it but, he’s not the only golfer to appear on a Scottish banknote and that leads us to today’s trivia question, which is:
Who is the only other golfer besides Jack Nicklaus to be featured on a Scottish Five Pound Note? Is it:
A. Tom Morris, Sr.
B. Nick Faldo
C. Harry Vardon
D. Tom Morris, Jr.
Just go to the entry form at GolfNow.com to submit your answer and tomorrow, we’ll tell you who it is and, if your answer was correct, then you will add one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:
Which member of the WGHoF was the first LPGA golfer to win more than 2, 3 and 4 million dollars in career earnings?
While she was the fourth player in the history of the LPGA to reach the 1 million dollar mark in career earnings, Pat Bradley went on to be the first player to win 2 million, then 3 million and then 4 million dollars over her career. Along the way she also became the first woman to win all four of the modern day majors in the LPGA and only player to win three of them in a single season. She was inducted into the WGHoF in 1991 and it is there at the Hall of Fame that you can find the cowbell that her mother rang on the porch of their home in Westford, Massachusetts after every one of Pat’s victories.
So, if you answered B – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is a Cobra Baffler DWS hybrid utility club which is another golf medal winning club on this year’s Golf Digest Hot List. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Joe Romo of Tucson, Arizona. Congratulations, JOe, and now, to claim your prize, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days and we will send you a new Cobra hybrid.
Okay, now for the big announcement I told you about at the top of the show. I know that some of you have already heard about it, but exactly three weeks from today – on July 22nd – I am going to be the host of a brand new series on The Golf Channel called Highway 18. Highway 18 is golf’s ultimate road trip that brings together five teams in a one of a kind golf competition. Each day, will test their golf skills and their navigation skills as they race against the clock to play on some of the countries amazing courses and unique locations. It’s going to be a LOT of fun so I hope you can watch each week. If you want to see more about the show, just click on the Highway 18 logo on our website and you can watch a preview of the show and meet the players who are going to make up the teams. But, don’t worry, I’ll also still be here every day for our usual golf trivia and daily drawings. That’s it for my announcement and for our show today. I’m KM, have a great day and I’ll see you again tomorrow here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
