September 30, 2008

It’s Tuesday, September 30th, and we’ve got a Big Prize Two for Tuedsay drawing - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.

Hi everyone, I’m Keri Murphy and welcome back to GolfNow’s trivia contest on this last Highway 18 Tuesday. Our featured course for today is a new addition to our GolfNow network and it’s Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Oregon, just south of Portland and we’re happy to welcome Langdon Farms to our network of courses across the country where you can find great tee times deals when you book online with us at www.GolfNow.com.

Okay, since it’s Big Prize Two for Tuesday, we’re going to ask you one trivia question with two possible correct answers and, so, our question for today is:

Which World Golf Hall of Fame members are the only two women to win two majors in their first season? Is it:

A. Babe Zaharias

B. Juli Inkster

C. Nancy Lopez or

D. Se Ri Pak

Just mark one of the correct answers on the entry form at GolfNow.com, and on tomorrow’s show, we’ll tell you which two women it is and you can find out if your answer was correct and, if it is, we’ll give you two correct entries into our computer for our daily drawings! Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

What was the last tournament that Bobby Jones won to complete the Grand Slam?

The Masters Tournament and PGA Championship didn’t exist in 1930 so, it was the British Amateur Championship and the U.S. Amateur Championship that were considered majors at the time, along with each countries Open tournaments. So, when Bobby Jones won both of those British tournaments back-to-back that year, it was a huge achievement and he was given a ticker-tape parade in New York City on his arrival back in America. Then, in July at the U.S. Open in Minnesota, he birdied the last hole to win by two strokes and when he reached the Merion Cricket Club in Pennsylvania for the U.S. Amateur Championship, almost 20,000 people attended to see if he could do what no other golfer had ever accomplished – which he did by winning 8 to 7 and led golf writer O.B. Keeler to dub the feat the “grand slam” of golf.

So, if you answered A – then you have just added one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and with the exciting finale of Highway 18 taking place tonight, we’ve got a Big Prize Two for Tuesday drawing and two people today are going to win a personalized Golf Channel golf bag by Sun Mountain plus, since we were just talking about Bobby Jones winning the grand slam, we’re also giving away two Bobby Jones fairway woods. Okay, computer, show me today’s Big Prize Two for Tuesday winners:

And our winners today are Carol Mullikin of Leesburg, Virginia and John Blessent of Bloomington, Illinois. Congratulations, Carol and John, and now, to claim these big prizes, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 day.

After almost 1,200 miles and hundreds of unique golf shots, the exciting finale of Highway 18 takes place tonight on the Golf Channel. The final two teams are in Key West and - from Mallory Square to famed Key West party spot, Sloppy Joe’s –one team will race to cross the finish line and win the grand prize worth more than $100,000 in cash and prizes when they become the very first champions. It all happens tonight at 10pm Eastern Time only on The Golf Channel. Okay, that’s it for our show today. I’m Keri Murphy, have a great Tuesday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
