Winning a major is any golfer’s dream but having one golfer in particular that keeps beating you must be a nightmare of sorts, and that leads us to today’s trivia question, which is:
Which golfer finished in 2nd place behind Tom Watson at four major championships? Was it:
A. Arnold Palmer
B. Johnny Miller
C. Lee Trevino or
D. Jack Nicklaus
Just go to the entry form at GolfNow.com to submit your answer and tomorrow, we’ll tell you who it was and, if your answer was correct, then you will add one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was
Which golfer broke Byron Nelson’s streak of 11 consecutive victories?
Byron Nelson was on an amazing winning streak in 1945 and had just won his 11th tournament in a row with a victory at the 1945 Canadian Open in Toronto. So, all eyes were on him going into the Memphis Invitational to see if he could reach his 12th consecutive win. But, Fred Haas, Jr. was also playing that day as an amateur in his very first PGA Tournament and, when it was over, Haas was the winner with Nelson coming in fourth and the streak was over – although Nelson did finish the year with an amazing 18 victories. Haas went on to have four more victories on the tour, played on the 1953 Ryder Cup team and he also won the Senior PGA Championship on his very first attempt.
So, if you answered A – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is a NIKE Golf prize package, which included a dozen personalize NIKE One Platinum golf balls.! Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Larry Beaver of Arvada, Colorado. Larry won on our show back in April and so he’s another two-time winner here on the show so now, Larry, to claim your second prize, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days – just like you did last time - and we will get that NIKE Golf prize package out to you.
