September 23, 2008
It’s Tuesday, September 23rd and we’re giving away a Golf Channel prize package – today on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
Hi, everyone, and welcome back to GolfNow’s trivia contest on this next-to-last Highway 18 Tuesday. Our featured course today is the Bridges Golf Course in Madison, Wisconsin – one more course in our GolfNow network where you can find great deals when you book your tee times online with us right here at www.golfnow.com.
Okay, we all know that one what a birdie or an eagle means in golf, but there are actually birds associated with almost every possible score for under and over par and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:
Which member of the World Golf Hall of Fame shot the very first Archaeopteryxin golf? Was it:
A. Tommy Armour
B. Ray Ainsley
C. Ed “Porky” Oliver or
D. John Daly
Mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and, on tomorrow’s show, we’ll tell you who it was – and what an Archaeopteryx is, in case you don’t already know - and, if your answer was correct, then you’ll add one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:
Which one of these golfers has NOT won the PGA’s Payne Stewart Award?
Payne Stewart was an incredibly popular golfer on the PGA tour and his death in 1999 was a huge loss to the sport and to all of his fans around the world. Just three weeks after his death, the PGA Tour created the Payne Stewart Award to be given out at the end of the tour to a player who showed respect for golf’s traditions, along with professional conduct and dress and charitable support to the game. The very first award in 2000 was given to the three golfers who Stewart always said he admired the most – Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus – and last year’s winner was Hal Sutton. We’re still waiting to hear who the winner will be this year but, so far based on the choices we gave you, Tiger Woods has yet to win the Payne Stewart Award.
So, if you answered B – then you were right, and that you added another entry into our computer for our daily drawings and with the next-to-last Highway 18 airing tonight on the Golf Channel, our prize today is another one of our Golf Channel Prize packages. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Charlie Kamer of Louisville, Kentucky and now, to claim these Golf Channel prizes, Charlie, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.
Tonight on Highway 18, the action begins with a clubhouse challenge on the famed Blue Monster at Doral Golf Resort in Miami and, then, the remaining three teams will race to Key West to find their next challenge where one more team will reach the end of the road, leaving only two teams for next week’s exciting finale. So, be sure to tune in tonight at 10pm Eastern Time for Highway 18, only on The Golf Channel. I’m Keri Murphy, thanks for watching and I’ll see you again tomorrow here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
