Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from last Friday’s show, which was:

Who is the only golfer to win a regular PGA Tour event without shooting a round in the 60’s?

Al Geiberger had 21 wins on the PGA and Champions Tour but he will most likely always be remembered as “Mr. 59”, which he’s been called ever since he became the first golfer to shoot that amazing score during the 1977 Danny Thomas Memphis Classic. It happened in the 2^nd round of the tournament that year at the Colonial Country Club, where the course was over 7.200 yards at the time and It was over 100 degrees. Even with those conditions, Geiberger managed to finish the round with 11 birdies, six pars and one eagle and when it was all over, Geiberger’s final scores of 72, 59,72 and 70 also made him the first – and still the only – golfer to win a regular PGA tour event, outside of the majors, without shooting a round in the 60’s.
