October 7, 2008

It’s Tuesday, October 7th and you might win a Nike golf grab bag - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.

Hi, everyone, I’m Keri Murphy, back again with another edition of GolfNow’s trivia contest. Our featured course for today is Grande Pines Golf Club in Orlando, Florida – one more course in our GolfNow network where you can find great savings when you book your tee times online with us at www.GolfNow.com.

The Valero Texas Open makes its last late season appearance this week before being moved to its new slot in May of 2009 as part of the FedEx Cup competition. This historic tournament has been played for almost 90 years and so, we’ll test your knowledge of this event with our trivia question for today, which is:

Who was the first golfer to win the Texas Open in a playoff? Was it:

A. Walter Hagen

B. Byron Nelson

C. Arnold Palmer or

D. Chi Chi Rodriquez

Just go to the entry form at GolfNow.com to submit your answer and tomorrow, we’ll tell you who it was and, if your answer was correct, then you will add one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Who was the first female golfer to break 60 in the LPGA?

Annika Sorenstam had already tied Karrie Webb and Se Ri Pak for the LPGA’s record low score of 61 but then, in the second round of the 2001 Standard Register Ping, she became the first woman to break 60 in the history of the LPGA. During her round, she shot 13 birdies – including eight consecutive ones on the first eight holes - no bogeys and only 25 putts, and her longest par putt was only 3-1/2 feet. She finished the round with a 13-under par 59 and still holds that record in the LPGA, although four women have shot 60 over the last few years, the most recent being Paula Creamer at this year’s Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic.

So, if you answered A – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is a grab bag of golf products by Nike, including a dozen personalized Nike One platinum golf balls. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner today is Gib Barberis of Orange, California. Congratulations, Gib, and now, to claim this Nike golf grab bag, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

Okay, that’s it for our show today. The next time you’re ready to save up to 70% on your next tee time, then be sure to book online with the #1 tee time website in the nation at www.golfnow.com . I’m KM, have a great day and I’ll see you again tomorrow here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
