October 1, 2008
It’s Wednesday, October 1st, I’m Keri Murphy and we’re giving away a Callaway golf prize package - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
Hi, everyone, and welcome back to GolfNow’s trivia contest. Our featured course for today is Little Bennett Golf Course in Clarksburg, Maryland – another course in our GolfNow network where you can save when you book online with us here at GolfNow.com. Okay, let’s just get right to our trivia question for today, which is:
Which tournament on the PGA Tour was the only one to use the Modified
Stableford scoring system? Was it:
A. THE INTERNATIONAL
B. North and South Open
C. Thunderbird Classic or
D. Western Open
Just go to the entry form at GolfNow.com to submit your answer and tomorrow, we’ll tell you which tournament it was and, if your answer was correct, then you will add one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:
Which World Golf Hall of Fame members are the only two women to win two majors in their first season?
When Juli Inkster won the Nabisco Dinah Shore and the du Maurier Classic in 1984, she became the very first LPGA rookie to win two majors in one season. Then, 14 years later in 1998, Se Ri Pak won the LPGA Championship and a few weeks later, her 18-foot birdie putt on the final hole of the U.S. Women’s Open made her the youngest champion in the history of that major, and made her the second LPGA member to win two majors in their first season on the tour. As an interesting side note, Juli Inkster went on to defeat Se Ri Pak the next year at both of those tournaments.
So, if you answered B or D – then you were right, which means that – because it was a Two for Tuesday question – that you now have two more entries into our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is a Callaway golf grab bag which includes a dozen personalized Callaway HX Hot Bite golf balls which earned a gold medal on this year’s Golf Digest Hot List. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Dennis Farias of Reno, Nevada. Congratulations, Dennis, and now, to claim this prize, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days and we will send your prize out to you.
