November 12, 2008
It’s Wednesday November 12th and you might win a World Golf Hall of Fame prize package - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
Hi everyone and welcome back to GolfNow’s trivia contest during our World Golf Hall of Fame theme week. I’m Keri Murphy and our featured GolfNow course for today was designed by one of the 2008 inductees into the Hall of Fame, Pete Dye’s Lost Canyons Golf Club in Simi Valley, CA, another course where you can find great tee time deals when you book online with us at GolfNow.com – just like you can at more than 1,000 courses in over 20 states that make up our GolfNow network.
Herman Densmore Shute, known to most everyone as Denny, was posthumously inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in the Veteran’s Category and is well-known for an important record that he held at the PGA Championship and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:
Who was the next golfer to have consecutive victories at the PGA Championship after Denny Shute? Was it:
A. Tiger Woods
B. Sam Snead
C. Jack Nicklaus
D. Ben Hogan
As always, mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com, and on tomorrow’s show, we’ll tell you who it was and you can find out if your answer was correct. Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:
Which one of these countries does NOT have a golf course designed by Pete Dye?
Pete Dye is the fifth architect to be inducted into the Hall of fame and is known around the world for the golf courses that he designs. Some of his most famous courses here in the states include the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, Crooked Stick Golf Club in Indiana and Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, which he designed with help from Jack Nicklaus. He also has courses around the globe but, out of our answer choices, the country that does NOT have a Pete Dye course is Scotland, which is where he got much of his inspiration for design when he visited there in 1963.
So, if you answered D – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is one of our World Golf Hall of Fame prize packages, including a dozen personalized Titleist Pro-V1’s and, since we were just talking about Pete Dye, our prize package today will also include a copy of the book Pete Dye Golf Courses-Fifty Years of Visionary Design, autographed by architect Pete Dye. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Andrew Parks of Saint Cloud, Florida. Congratulations, Andrew, and now, to claim this prize package, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.
Okay, that is it for our show on this Wednesday. GolfNow’s Hot Deals E-mail club has tee times priced so low that we can’t offer them on our website so why not join today – it’s absolutely free and all the details on our website here at www.GolfNow.com. I’m Keri Murphy – have a great day and I’ll see you back here tomorrow for more GolfNow trivia.
