It’s Thursday, July 3rd and you might win a Bag Boy three-wheel push cart - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
Hi, everyone, Keri Murphy back with more fun golf trivia and great golf prizes here on GolfNow.com. Our featured course for today is one of the most challenging golf courses in the world – Ko’olau Golf Club on the island of Oahu- and when you’re up for the test at this course – which has a slope rating of 152 – then you can save when you book your tee times online with us at www.golfnow.com – the #1 tee time website in the nation.
Okay, some people are still talking about the playoff between Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate at this year’s U.S. Open, especially in light of Tiger’s knee problems and we were curious about what other playoffs had taken place at the Open and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:
What was the highest number of holes required to determine the champion of The U.S. Open? Was it:
A. 91
B. 108
C. 144
D. 153
Just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and tomorrow, we’ll tell you how many holes it was and, if your answer is correct, then there will be one more entry in our computer with your name on it for our daily drawings.
Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:
What tournament did the AT&T National replace on the PGA Tour?
The International began in 1986 and was a popular stop on the PGA Tour for 21 years, or for most of that time, at least. Played each year at Castle Pines golf Club in Colorado, it was unique in that it used the Modified Stableford scoring system, making it one of only two events on the tour that wasn’t stroke play. Originally played right after the PGA Championship, it attracted top golfers on the tour, but the founder of The International believes that once Tiger stopped playing there after 1999, everything changed. The PGA began to move the event to less desirable dates and the prize money started to drop below what was offered at other tournaments, which then made it harder to attract corporate sponsors. So, in February of last year, The International was officially canceled and, somewhat ironically, replaced by the AT&T National which, of course, is hosted by Tiger Woods.
So, if you answered D – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is a Bag Boy three-wheel golf cart. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Sharon Jones of Norwood, Massachusetts, and Sharon - to claim your new Bag Boy golf cart, then just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days and we will send your prize out to you.
Okay, that is it for today’s show. The 4th of July is tomorrow, of course, and we know many of you are traveling but we’ll be here – as always – with our show so we hope you can join us. I’m KM – have a safe holiday and I’ll see you tomorrow here on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
