July 28, 2008
It’s Monday, July 28th – I’m Keri Murphy and we start the countdown to our 400th show - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
Hi, everyone, welcome back to GolfNow’s Trivia Contest and this Friday is going to be our 400th show and we have a great prize to give away so be sure to mark your calenders. Our featured GolfNow network course for today is the Siena Golf Club in Las Vegas – just one of more than 1,000 courses in over 20 states where you can save when you book online with us at www.golfnow.com – the #1 tee time website in the nation.
Okay, let’s just get right to our first trivia question for this week. Okay, we still have a lot of summer left but sometimes the heat can get a little intense out on the golf course so, when that happens, maybe you can imagine you’re playing in a tournament where it’s pretty much impossible to stay warm and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:
Which country hosts the annual Chivas Snow Golf Championship? Is it:
A. Greenland
B. Sweden
C. Russia
D. Switzerland
As always, just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and tomorrow, we’ll tell you where this very cool golf tournament is held and, if your answer was correct, then you’ll have one more entry in our computer with your name on it for our daily drawings.
Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from last Friday’s show, which was:
What was the first company to make a matched set of golf clubs in the United States?
Working with golfer Bobby Jones, A.G. Spalding and Company not only designed the first set of matched golf clubs, but also the first set that featured steel shafts instead of hickory. They also replaced the old Scottish names of each club with the numbered set, which is the standard today. Jones rejected over 200 clubs before he was satisfied and the set, which featured his name, came out in 1932 and were top sellers for years afterwards.
So, if you answered A – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and, since we were just talking about Bobby Jones first set of clubs, our prize today is an official Bobby Jones signature wedge. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Brett Neff of Yukon, Oklahoma and Brett, to claim this Bobby Jones wedge, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.
Okay, that’s it for today’s show. The second episode of The Golf Channel’s new series Highway 18, with me as your host, airs tomorrow night at 10pm eastern time and if you haven’t already seen the sneak peek for tomorrow’s episode, then be sure to click on the Highway 18 logo here on our home page. I’m Keri Murphy, have a great Monday everyone and I’ll see you again tomorrow here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
