July 22, 2008

It’s Tuesday, the 22nd day of July and you might win a Golf Channel prize package plus free golf and free gas - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.

Hi, everyone, I’m Keri Murphy, back with another edition of GolfNow’s trivia contest during our free golf and free gas week. Our featured course for today is the Arnold Palmer Signature Course at Wildfire Golf Resort in Phoenix, Arizona - another course in our GolfNow network where you can save when you book your tee times online with us at www.GolfNow.com. Oh, and speaking of Arnold Palmer, The King makes a very special appearance tonight on the premiere episode of the Golf Channel’s new series, Highway 18 which I’m also the host of. This great new series begins tonight at 10pm Eastern Time on The Golf Channel so I really hope you’ll tune in for the first episode and be sure to let me know what you think!

Okay, today is the 22nd of July, and so, since there are two 2’s in the date, I think we’ll make today Two for Tuesday but, in addition to two prizes going out to two winners, we’re going to add a slightly different twist which is that today’s question is going to have two correct answers – so you’ll have a 50/50 chance of getting it right, even if you guess! So, our Two for Tuesday question is:

Which two golfers were known as the “Gold Dust Twins” during the 1940’s? Was it:

A. Byron Nelson

B. Sam Snead

C. Harold McSpaden

D. Ben Hogan

Just go to the entry form at GolfNow.com to submit your answer and tomorrow, we’ll tell you both of the names and we’ll find out if your answer was correct. Okay, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Which golfer threw and kicked one of his own golf shoes during a tournament and almost hit a referee in the face?

Spain’s Sergio Garcia made his first appearance at the World Match Play tournament in 1999 and made quite a first impression before it was all over. Apparently, Garcia had slipped a few times during the week when teeing off for some reason and finally, after hooking a shot into some trees on the 15th hole, he took off one of his shoes and angrily threw it (into the crowd). Then, when someone threw it back to him, he kicked the shoe and it almost hit the match referee in the face.

So, if you answered D – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and since today is Two for Tuesday, then that means that TWO people are each going to receive one free round of golf along with a free $50 golf now gas card PLUS, to celebrate tonight’s premiere of the new show, Highway 18 on The Golf Channel, we’re also giving away TWO Golf Channel prize packages! Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winners today are Don Bolin of Greenville, Texas and Oliver Mueseler of Poway, California. Congratulations, Don and Oliver, and now, to claim your free golf and free gas, along with a Golf Channel prize package, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

Okay, that’s it for today’s show. Don’t forget to tune in to tonight’s premiere of Highway 18 on the Golf Channel at 10pm Eastern time and also don’t forget that when you want to save up to 70% on your next tee time, then come visit us here at GolfNOw.com for savings on more than 1.000 courses in over 20 states.
