Hi everyone, I’m Keri Murphy and YOU might be our British Open Big Prize Thursday winner today – on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest
Welcome back to GolfNow’s trivia contest on this Big Prize Thursday during our British Open theme week. Our featured course today is the Pinnacle Course at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona - another course in our nationwide GolfNow network where you can save when you book your tee times online with us here at www.GolfNow.com.
Okay, the British Open returns to Royal Birkdale today after a ten year absence and there are several golfers making their first appearance at this major this year, and hopefully it will go better than the golfer in our question today and, with that in mind, our question for today is:
Which golfer tore up his scorecard and walked off the course during his first appearance at The British Open? Was it:
A. Bobby Jones
B. Henry Cotton
C. Nick Faldo
D. Seve Ballasteros
Submit your answer on the entry form at GolfNow TV and tomorrow, we’ll tell you wasn’t very happy with their score at their first British Open and we’ll find out if you earned another entry into our daily drawings. Okay, now let’s find out the answer to yesterday’s trivia question, which was:
Who is the only left-handed player to win the British Open? Is it:
When Bob Charles won the 1963 British Open at Royal Lytham, he became not just the first and only left-handed golfer to win, he is also the first and only golfer from New Zealand to receive the Claret Jug, as well. Charles turned professional in 1960 and went onto win more than 60 international tournaments including 5 PGATour wins, 4 New Zealand Opens and three New Zealand PGA Championships. His career continued and then, after the age of 50, he won 23 Champions Tour titles, along with other senior tournaments. He was became Sir Bob Charles in 1999 when he was named Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit and on November 10th of this year, Sir Bob will become the first lefty & Kiwi to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
So, if you answered A – then your answer was correct and you’ve added another new entry
into our computer for our daily drawings and our British Open big prize Thursday prize today is a framed poster from the British Open at Royal Birkdale. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
