How many golf balls would you have to stack up to reach the very top of the lightning rod on the Empire State Building in New York City?

Tried to find todays answer to no avail. Nothing like an off the cuff guess…..

I was wondering, as I often do, the silver mug in todays prize package, is it dented like it has been riddled by golf balls or are those depressions for a better grip? Just curious.
Also I was wondering if you could include, as a bonus to Keri’s every day feature, have her say ”hello” or ”hit ‘em straight” or something to that effect, to a random golfnow.com member each day. Just a thought….. still wondering aimlessly, B.K.

  2. Bill Altman Says:

I could not fing this info anywhere so I just went to the math. Empire State Building is 1454 feet tall including the lightning rod. That equals 17448 inches. A golf ball is 1.68 inches in diameter so it would take 10385 balls stacked on each other to reach the height of the building.

Can someone fill me in why bill (85260) can have more correct questions (15) while everyone else has only 14??? Also Keri cut your hair already, it’s too long, your ready for a change and short hair is hot! Trix

We looked into why Bill has one more entry than the people below him on the top 50 list and the reason is because Bill is a member of our Player’s Club. When you join the GolfNow Player’s Club, just one of the perks is that you get an automatic entry into all of our contests - and that includes our trivia contest. Plus, the entry that you get from being in the Player’s Club is good all year and doesn’t have the 30 day expiration that a normal entry does, so you are guaranteed at least one entry even if all of your other ones expire for some reason. So, if you’re not a member of our Player’s Club then you should definitely check it out right away because there are a lot of great benefits. It’s not available in all areas but, if it is, you’ll find the information on your GolfNow home page.

The indentions in the Golf Channel travel mug that we’re giving away in our prize package today are meant to imitate the dimples in a golf ball - just in case anyone else is wondering.

  6. Glen T Says:

Hi Keri, On a personal basis, I think you look very sexy with that long hair - but then again it’s my preference.
Actually, I do think you’d look good with any length hair.

  7. eddiebaby Says:

    Hey Brian, do the math.

  8. GolfNow TV Says:

The answer to today’s math question won’t be found anywhere on an internet search. We’re coming up with a set of this type of question for this year and you’ll have to either do the math yourself or take a guess!

  9. Brian Kaiser Says:

Hey eddiebaby, nope…..not gonna do it. Already entered my daily guess, me no lika straining the noggin any more than I have to. Thanks all the same though! And about Keri’s hair……it’s her hair, do with it what she wants. It all looks good, up, down, pigtails….how ’bout some pigtails!
And thanks about clearing up the dimples thing on the mug question I had. Thanks for the information. B.K.

  10. Don Says:

    Keri,

Keep your hair the way it is. Once you get married and start having kids it will get shorter.

  11. Brian Kaiser Says:

Evidently Bill is just plain smarter than the rest of us…..way to go Bill you sly fox you…..

  12. Tim Hickey Says:

Two things, I’m in the Players Club and I don’t have the extra credit for an answer. I don’t remember seeing anything on a renewal so maybe it expired.

Two, I think you have another answer that will tick some off. Taking the minimum diameter per USGA gives you one answer. But a golf ball can be as big as one wishes as long as it meets the weight requirements, which would seem to leave open other answers.

  13. GolfNow TV Says:

The question we asked was limited just to the minimum diameter regardless of weight. Keri mentioned this after she asked the question so, if you didn’t watch the whole show and just read the question on the website, you would have missed that important clue!

  14. GolfNow TV Says:

We are looking into other people who are members of the Player’s Club but do not have the same number of entries as “Bill” and will report back when we have an answer. Thanks for your patience.
