It’s Big Prize Tuesday and you might win a big Golf Channel prize package - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
Hi everyone and welcome back to GolfNow’s trivia contest on this Highway 18 Tuesday. I’m Keri Murphy and the featured GolfNow course for today is Jersey Meadow Golf Club in Houston, Texas, another course where you can find great tee time deals when you book online with us at GolfNow.com
There have only been a handful of movies about golf made over the years, but more than a few of the biggest names in the sport have made appearances in many of them and so, that leads us to our trivia question for today, which is:
Which of these golfers has NOT appeared in a movie about golf? Is it:
A. Jack Nicklaus
B. Arnold Palmer
C. Sam Snead or
D. Ben Hogan
As always, mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com, and on tomorrow’s show, we’ll tell you who hasn’t made it onto the silver screen and you can find out if your answer was correct. Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:
Who was the number one golfer on the very first official World Golf Ranking list?
The Official World Golf Rankings began in 1986 under the name the Sony World Ranking, and the first list was introduced just prior to The Masters tournament that year. The ranking is endorsed by the six professional tours that make up the International Federation of PGA Tours, and by all four major championships, and the list is released each Monday. Even though he hasn’t played since the U.S. Open in June, Tiger Woods is still the #1 player on the list and holds the record for most weeks at the top with a total of 510 weeks since his first #1 appearance on June 15th, 1997. But, on the very first list released in 1986, it was Germany’s Bernhard Langer - who will celebrate his 51st birthday tomorrow - who was on top of the world ranking.
So, if you answered D – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and, just like every Tuesday during Highway 18, our prize today is a Golf Channel prize package and, since today is Big Prize Tuesday, that prize package will also include a personalized Golf Channel golf bag by Sun Mountain. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner is Roger Erickson of Gilbert, Arizona. Congratulations, Roger, and now, to claim this Golf Channel big prize package, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days and we will send your prize out to you.
Okay, that’s it for our show but, on tonight’s new episode of Highway 18, the teams start their day at the Golf Channel studios in Orlando before moving on to a chipping contest at the Nick Faldo Institute. Then, they’ll all compete in a clubhouse challenge at the Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course. Now that three different teams have one strike against them, the competition is really heating up, so be sure not to miss all the action tonight at 10pm Eastern Time only on The Golf Channel. I’m Keri Murphy, have a great Tuesday and I’ll see you again tomorrow for more golf trivia here on GolfNow.com.
