August 25, 2008
It’s Monday, August 25th – I’m Keri Murphy and you might be our first winner of the week - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
Hi, everyone, welcome back to GolfNow’s Trivia Contest for this last week of August and our featured GolfNow network course for today is the Catalina Course at the Omni Tucson National Golf Resort and Spa in Tucson, Arizona – just one of more than 1,000 courses in over 20 states where you can save when you book online with us at www.golfnow.com – the #1 tee time website in the nation.
The new World Golf Ranking comes out every Monday and has been around for a little over two decades now. Even though Tiger isn’t playing right now, he’s still on top of the list but, we were wondering who the first #1 ranked golfer was and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:
Who was the number one golfer on the very first official World Golf Ranking list? Was it:
A. Greg Norman
B. Tom Watson
C. Seve Ballesteros or
D. Bernhard Langer
Just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and tomorrow, we’ll tell you who the first #1 was and, if your answer was correct, then you’ll have one more entry in our computer with your name on it for our daily drawings.
Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from last Friday’s show, which was:
Which one of the FedEx Cup Playoff tournaments was once considered one of golf’s major tournaments?
The BMW Championship, which takes place next weekend at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, was, of course, known as the Western Open up until just a year ago, and for a little over a century before that. First held in 1899, up until its last year as the Western Open it was one of the oldest active PGA Tour events and Hagen, Nelson, Hogan, Snead, Nicklaus, Palmer and Woods are just a few of the familiar names that were winners over the 103 times it was held. Plus, although it was never officially designated as one, it was considered one of golf’s majors for decades.
So, if you answered C – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and, our prize today is a Bag Boy three-wheel push cart. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Christina Gray of Discovery Bay, California and Christina, to claim this Bag Boy push cart, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.
Okay, that’s it for our first show of this week. Why not beat the Labor Day crowds at the course coming up this weekend and get out on the course this week? And, when you do, you can find great tee time deals just waiting for you right here when you book online with us at www.golfnow.com. I’m Keri Murphy, have a great Monday everyone and I’ll see you again tomorrow here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
