August 22, 2008
It’s Friday, August 22nd and we’re giving away a NIKE IC putter. Let’s find out if you’re our winner - today on Golf Now’s Trivia Contest.
Hey there, Keri Murphy with the final trivia question of the week and our featured course for today is Royal Links Golf Club in Las Vegas – just one more course in our GolfNow network where you can find great tee time deals when you book online with us at www.GolfNow.com.
So, the PGA Tour playoffs for the FedEx Cup have officially begun with the first competitive round of The Barclays taking place yesterday and one of the tournaments in the playoffs has a long distuinguised history under a different name so, with that in mind, our question for today is:
Which one of the FedEx Cup Playoff tournaments was once considered one of golf’s major tournaments? Was it:
A. The Barclays
B. Deutsche Bank Championship
C. BMW Championship
D. THE TOUR Championship
Just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and on Monday’s show, we’ll tell you which college it was and we’ll see if your answer was correct and earned you another entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:
Which college won the very first intercollegiate golf tournament?
The Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the United States was created in 1906 but then changed its name to the National Collegiate Athletic Association in 1910. By the time that name change took effect, however, there had already been an intercollegiate golf tournament for a little over a decade that was conducted by the USGA and the NCAA finally took over the tournament until 1939. As it turns out, the college with the most team championships in the history of the Intercollegiate Golf Tournament is also the team that won at the very first tournament in 1897 – and that was Yale.
So, if you answered A –then you were correct and now have one more entry with your name on it in our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is a NIKE IC putter – another gold medal winning club on Golf Digest’s 2008 Hot List. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Joseph Tiong of Flint, Michigan. So, now to claim this prize, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days. Congratulations, Joseph!
