It’s Big Prize Wednesday and we’re giving away a PING G10 driver - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.
Hi, everyone, Keri Murphy here halfway through our week with a Big Prize Wednesday edition of GolfNow’s trivia contest. Our featured GolfNow network course for today is La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California - another course in our GolfNow network where you can save when you book with us at www.GolfNow.com - the #1 tee time website in the nation.
Only four golfers have won three back-to-back victories in the entire history of the British Open and the first three were Scottish players who all did it in the early days of the tournament and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:
Which member of the WGHoF was the only player to win the British Open three consecutive times during the 20th century? Was it:
A. Bobby Locke
B. Walter Hagen
C. Tom Watson
D. Peter Thomson
Just mark your answer on the entry form at www.golfnow.com and tomorrow we’ll tell you who it was and, if your answer was correct, then you will add one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:
Which golfer knocked himself out with his own ball after it ricocheted off a stone wall?
Gary Player was playing in a minor tournament on his very first visit to England in 1955 and was in a position to win as he approached the 18th hole. But, he hooked his tee shot and the ball ended up next to a stone wall on the course. Thinking he needed a 4 to win, he decided to try and bounce the ball off the wall so that it would ricochet back onto the green. So, he lined up his shot and hit it hard BUT, instead of hitting the green, it hit Player right on the chin and knocked him out. He recovered a short time later and pitched the ball onto the green and then putted for a 4. But, the thrill of his victory was short-lived once he found out that he had incurred a two-stroke penalty by hitting himself with the ball and, to make it worse, he also found out that he could have won the tournament with a five on the hole.
So, if you answered C – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and our Big Prize Wednesday prize this week is a PING G10 driver found on Golf Digest’s 2008 Hot List! Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
And our winner today is Doug Kyle of Oceanside, California. Congratulations, Doug, and now, to claim this PING driver, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days and we will get it right out to you.
There’s really no reason to wait for the weekend to get out on the golf course so why not check out the great mid-week deals available when you book your tee times online with us at GolfNow.com? I’m Keri Murphy and I’ll see you again tomorrow here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
