August 18, 2008

It’s Monday, August 18th, and you might be our first winner of the week - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.

Hi everyone and welcome back to a new week here on GolfNow’s trivia contest. Our first GolfNow network course for this week is The Lodge at Ventana Canyon in Tucson, Arizona and you can find great tee time deals for this course when you book online with the #1 tee time website in the nation – www.golfnow.com.

Okay, the first Stroke Play round of this year’s U.S. Amateur Championship is today at Pinehurst Country Club in North Carolina and we thought we would test your knowledge on this historic tournament and, so, our question for today is:

Which one of these golfers did NOT win the U.S. Amateur Championship? Was it:

A. Justin Leonard
B. Phil Mickelson
C. Hal Sutton or
D. Tom Kite

Now just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and tomorrow we’ll tell you who didn’t win the U.S. Amateur and you’ll find out if your answer was correct. Now, let’s find out the answer to the trivia question from last Friday’s show, which was:

Which one of these countries does NOT have a PGA Championship?

The International Federation of PGA Tours includes not just the PGA Tour here in the states, but also the European Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Sunshine Tour in southern Africa along with the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour. Within that group, there are several different PGA Championships played in different countries, like the BMW PGA Championship in England, and the New Zealand and Australian PGA Championships down under. On the Asian Tour, the very first Singha Thailand PGA Championship was played in June of this year but - while China has the Volvo China Open, the BMW Asian Open, the Pine Valley Beijing Open and the Hong Kong Open, plus a few more - they do not have a PGA Championship.

So, if you answered A, then you were right and now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings where we give away great golf prizes and since we were just talking about different PGA Championships and tournaments around the world, our prize today is a copy of the limited edition book, Golf Courses: Fairways of the World, with beautiful panoramic shots of almost 100 of the most amazing golf courses around the planet plus, we’ll also throw in the 16-month 2009 Fairways of the World 2009 Wall Calender. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner is Brian Stegner of Petaluma, California. Congratulations, Brian, you’ve just won these two great prizes and now, to claim this book and calender, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

Okay, that’s it for today. A brand new episode of Highway 18 will be on at 10pm Eastern Time tomorrow night and, to check out a preview of the show, just click on the photo of me and the teams on our site. I’m Keri Murphy and I’ll see you again tomorrow right here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.
