“Colonial is most known for its connection to one of the greatest to ever play the game, Ben Hogan. Hogan virtually owned the golf course throughout his career, winning a total of five times at Colonial; a feat that garnered the nickname “Hogan’s Alley” for the course. Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles is also often referred to as Hogan’s Alley, but is almost unanimous that the title goes to Colonial.

Keri said Power Golf by Ben Hogan was published in 1947. The Library of Congress has it published in 1948. Who is correct?

The golf course constantly referred to as “Hogan’s Alley” is the Riveria golf course and the Riveria Country Club in California.

The question today is flawed. Colonial Country Club has been sited on several websites including PGATour.com) as the golf course nicknamed “Hogan’s Alley”. However, this was not one of the selections. Whowver comes up with these questions needs to perform additional research before asking them.

We have had a few comments today challenging our answer choices. While there is some conflicting information, the correct answer was based on multiple sources including Ben Hogan’s official website, the official website of the actual course, TIME magazine and even PGATour.com. Based on those sources and with the choices given today as possible answers, there is only one correct answer to today’s question. We apologize if there is any confusion.

Just for the record, Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Tx., Ben Hogan’s home course, also has the distinction of being known as “Hogan’s Alley”. Refer to http://www.panache.com/custompub.html.
