It’s Friday, October 31st and you might be the winner of today’s daily drawing on Golf Now’s Trivia Contest.

Happy Halloween, everyone, Keri Murphy back with our final trivia question of the week here on GolfNow.com and our featured course for today is the Bridgewater Golf Club in Lakeland, Florida – another course in our GolfNow network where you can find great tee time deals when you book online with us here at www.GolfNow.com.

Okay, so the Champions Tour is for golfers who are 50 or older, but there have been players still competing on the regular tour at that age and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:

What age was the oldest first-time winner on the regular PGA Tour? Was it:

A. 51

B. 63

C. 76

D. 80

Just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and on Monday’s show, we’ll tell you how old that first-time winner was and we’ll see if your answer was correct. Now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Which golfer slept outside on the beach before his first British Open because he couldn’t afford a hotel room?

The Black Knight, Gary Player, celebrates his 73rd birthday tomorrow and is certainly a legend in the history of golf. It is estimated that he has flown over 15 million miles during his career in order to play in tournaments all over the world, and the very first trip he made was in 1955 so he could play in his very first British Open at St. Andrews. But, once he got there, he realized that he couldn’t afford a hotel room for the entire trip, so he spent the first night outside in the dunes on the beach and then, the next day, he found a reasonably-priced room to stay in. Fifty years later, in 2005, he was in St. Andrews again for the British Open and went back to the same spot and said a prayer of thanks for his amazing career that started there.

So, if you answered D - then you were right and you’ve added one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings where you can win great golf prizes and today we’re giving away a copy of the beautiful book, Fairways of the World, along with the book’s 2009 companion calendar.. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner today is Sean Grech of Vallejo, California. Congratulations, Sean, and now, to claim this prize, all you have to do now is send me an e-mail to me at Keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

Okay, that wraps this week here on GolfNow’s trivia contest. Thanks so much to everyone who played this week. World Golf Hall of Fame member Raymond Floyd won in 1993, followed by Hall of Famer Hale Irwin in 1998 and then Tom Watson followed as the first three-time winner with victoriesin 2000, 2002 and 2005. C. Hale Irwin or

D. Tom Watson

Just go to the entry form at GolfNow.com to submit your answer and tomorrow, we’ll tell you who it is and, if your answer was correct, then you will add one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Which one of these movies was NOT filmed at the Riviera Country Club?

The Riviera Country Club opened on June 24, 1927 and is considered one of the best golf. courses in the world. Between it’s spectacular beauty and the fact that it was located so close to Hollywood, it also became a favorite movie location, as well. The first movie to be filmed there was Blockade, which came out in 1938 starring Henry Fonda and had nothing to do with golf at all but was about the Spanish Civil War, of all things. But, then in the early 50’s, Riviera members Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy shot golf scenes for their film, Pat and Mike, there along with Babe Zaharias, and the Ben Hogan biopic Follow The Sun and the Lewis & Martin comedy The Caddy also shot scenes at the course. So, that only leaves Tin Cup out of our answer choices as the film that wasn’t shot at Riviera.

So, if you answered C – then you were right, which means that you’ve added another entry into our computer for our daily drawings and our big prize today is a PING G10 driver. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner today is Ron Cameron of Scottsdale, Arizona. Congratulations, Ron, and now, to claim this PING driver, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days and we will send your prize out to you.

Our featured course today is Laytonsville Golf Course just outside of Washington D.C. in Laytonsville, Maryland – one more course in our GolfNow network where you can save when you book your tee times online with us right here at www.golfnow.com.

Which one of these movies was NOT filmed at the Riviera Country Club? Was it:

A. The Caddy

B. Pat and Mike

C. Tin Cup

D. Follow The Sun

Mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and, on tomorrow’s show, we’ll tell you who which movie wasn’t filmed at Riviera and, if your answer was correct, then you’ll add one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Which country did NOT have a team compete in the very first Eisenhower Cup?

The very first men’s World Amateur Golf Team Championship was played in 1958 when the UGSA and the R&A created the international amateur team event, which was to be held biennially during non-Walker Cup years. The winning team receives the Eisenhower Trophy, named after U.S. President, and avid golfer, Dwight Eisenhower. It was played that first year in St. Andrews and 29 different countries participated with Australia beating the United States in a playoff. Iceland, Canada and Kenya were all sent teams so, out of our answer choices, that leaves Mexico as the country that didn’t compete that year.

So, if you answered A – then you were right, and now have another entry in our computer and prize today is a Callaway Warbird Stand Golf Bag. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner today is Vance Adler of Castle Rock, Colorado and now, to claim this Callaway bag, Vance, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

This year’s Eisenhower Cup took place a little over a week ago with Scotland winning for the very first time by nine strokes over the U.S. in this international amateur event and, so, with that in mind, our question for today is:

A. Mexico

B. Iceland

C. Canada

D. Kenya

Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from last Friday’s show, which was:

The very first hole-in-one on a par-4 was made on what golf course?

A plaque near the 17th tee of the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale commorates the very first ace on a par-4 on the PGA Tour, which occurred on January 25th of 2001. It was during the first round of The Phoenix Open that year when Andrew Magee made that magic shot, with a little help from Tom Byrum’s putter. Magee, who you’ve seen as host of several shows on the Golf Channel, lives near the course and had played it numerous times, but had never reached the green on 17 off the tee so, instead of waiting for the group ahead of him to finish, he decided to go ahead and tee off on the 332-yard hole. Well, this time, his drive did make it onto the green where Tom Byrum was lining up a birdie putt from inside 10 feet and Andrew’s ball hit Byrum’s putter and rolled right into the hole for a double-eagle ace – still the only par-4 ace in the history of the tour.

So, if you answered D – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and, our prize today is a Bob Burns Roll-In putter plus a golf shirt and hat from Basic Golf. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

Monday, October 27th, 2008

It’s Friday, October 24th, I’m Keri Murphy and you might be our winner today on Golf Now’s Trivia Contest.

Hey there, Keri Murphy back with our final Ryder Cup trivia question of the week here on GolfNow.com. Our featured course for today is The Sanctuary in Chicago – another course in our GolfNow network where you can save when you book online with us at www.GolfNow.com.

We’ve talked a lot on the show about holes-in-one, which have almost always been made on par-3’s, which makes sense, but not all of them and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:

The very first hole-in-one on a par-4 was made on what golf course? Was it:

A. TPC Myrtle Beach

B. TPC Sawgrass

C. TPC San Antonio

D. TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Course)

Mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and on Monday’s show, we’ll tell you where that par-4 ace was made – and who made it - and we’ll see if your answer was correct and earned you another entry into our computer for our daily drawings. Now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Which one of these golfers did NOT play golf under Coach Harvey Penick at the University of Texas?

Harvey Penick was one of the first of a generation of American-born golf instructors who would take over from the original groups of Scottish and British teachers here in the United States and, of course, his “Little Red Book” is required reading for absolutely every golfer. His amazing career started at the age of 8 when he became a caddy at the Austin Country Club in Texas, he later served as Head Coach there for almost 50 years. Plus, while he was holding that position, he also coached the golf team at the University of Texas for just over 30 years, winning 20 Southwest Conference Championships along the way with students including Tom Kite, and Ben Crenshaw, along with future LPGA Hall of Fame members Kathy Whitworth, Betsy Rawls, Mickey Wright and Betty Jameson. So, out of our list of answer choices, Babe Zaharias was the only golfer who didn’t play at Texas with Coach Penick.

So, if you answered B - then you were right and you’ve added one more entry Into our computer for our daily drawings where you can win great golf prizes and, since we were just talking about Harvey Penick, our prize today is a limited edition leather-bound set of four of Harvey Penick’s books, including the Little Red Book, of course. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner today is Dennis Nelson of Cherokee, Iowa. Congratulations, Dennis, you’ve just won this Odyssey putter and, in order to claim this prize, all you have to do is send me an e-mail to me at Keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

Okay, that wraps up another week here on GolfNow’s trivia contest. Thanks so much to everyone who played this week and congratulations to all of our winners plus a big thanks to girls golf for my wardrobe. I’m Keri Murphy, and when you’re ready to save up to 70% on your next tee time, then be sure to book online with us here at GolfNow.com – the #1 tee time website in the nation!
