It’s Tuesday, September 30th, and we’ve got a Big Prize Two for Tuedsay drawing - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.

Hi everyone, I’m Keri Murphy and welcome back to GolfNow’s trivia contest on this last Highway 18 Tuesday. Our featured course for today is a new addition to our GolfNow network and it’s Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, Oregon, just south of Portland and we’re happy to welcome Langdon Farms to our network of courses across the country where you can find great tee times deals when you book online with us at www.GolfNow.com.

Okay, since it’s Big Prize Two for Tuesday, we’re going to ask you one trivia question with two possible correct answers and, so, our question for today is:

Which World Golf Hall of Fame members are the only two women to win two majors in their first season? Is it:

A. Babe Zaharias

B. Juli Inkster

C. Nancy Lopez or

D. Se Ri Pak

Just mark one of the correct answers on the entry form at GolfNow.com, and on tomorrow’s show, we’ll tell you which two women it is and you can find out if your answer was correct and, if it is, we’ll give you two correct entries into our computer for our daily drawings! Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

What was the last tournament that Bobby Jones won to complete the Grand Slam?

The Masters Tournament and PGA Championship didn’t exist in 1930 so, it was the British Amateur Championship and the U.S. Amateur Championship that were considered majors at the time, along with each countries Open tournaments. So, when Bobby Jones won both of those British tournaments back-to-back that year, it was a huge achievement and he was given a ticker-tape parade in New York City on his arrival back in America. Then, in July at the U.S. Open in Minnesota, he birdied the last hole to win by two strokes and when he reached the Merion Cricket Club in Pennsylvania for the U.S. Amateur Championship, almost 20,000 people attended to see if he could do what no other golfer had ever accomplished – which he did by winning 8 to 7 and led golf writer O.B. Keeler to dub the feat the “grand slam” of golf.

So, if you answered A – then you have just added one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and with the exciting finale of Highway 18 taking place tonight, we’ve got a Big Prize Two for Tuesday drawing and two people today are going to win a personalized Golf Channel golf bag by Sun Mountain plus, since we were just talking about Bobby Jones winning the grand slam, we’re also giving away two Bobby Jones fairway woods. Okay, computer, show me today’s Big Prize Two for Tuesday winners:

And our winners today are Carol Mullikin of Leesburg, Virginia and John Blessent of Bloomington, Illinois. Congratulations, Carol and John, and now, to claim these big prizes, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 day.

After almost 1,200 miles and hundreds of unique golf shots, the exciting finale of Highway 18 takes place tonight on the Golf Channel. The final two teams are in Key West and - from Mallory Square to famed Key West party spot, Sloppy Joe’s –one team will race to cross the finish line and win the grand prize worth more than $100,000 in cash and prizes when they become the very first champions. It all happens tonight at 10pm Eastern Time only on The Golf Channel. Okay, that’s it for our show today. I’m Keri Murphy, have a great Tuesday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.

Monday, September 29th, 2008

It’s Monday, September 29th – I’m Keri Murphy and you might be our first winner of the week - today on GolfNow’s trivia contest.

Our featured GolfNow network course for today is the Tuscany Golf Club in Las Vegas just one of more than 1,000 courses in over 20 states where you can save when you book online with us at www.golfnow.com – the #1 tee time website in the nation.

Bobby Jones is well-known as the golfer to complete golf’s first grand slam, although the tournaments that make up that achievement were a little different when he did it and so, with that in mind, our question for today is:

What was the last tournament that Bobby Jones won to complete the Grand Slam? Was it:

A. U.S. Amateur Championship

B. U.S. Open

C. British Open or

D. British Amateur Championship

As always, just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and tomorrow, we’ll tell you which tournament completed the Grand Slam for Bobby Jones and, if your answer was correct, then you’ll have one more entry in our computer with your name on it for our daily drawings.

Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from last Friday’s show, which was:

Which country has never hosted the World Cup?

Well, if we counted right, the World Cup has been played in 25 different countries since it began as the Canada Cup in 1953, including the U.S.- which has hosted the event 11 times, along with Canada, of course, Spain, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Italy and quite a few others. Out of our list of answer choices, Greece hosted the event in 1979, Indonesia in 1983 and it was played in Portugal in 2005. So, Sweden is the only country we listed that hasn’t hosted the tournament before, and won’t anytime soon since the event is scheduled to be played for the next ten years at the Mission Hills Golf Club in China, which we talked about a few weeks ago as the club with 12 different courses all designed by different golf legends and this year, the World Cup will be played on the Olazabal course.

So, if you answered C – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and, our prize today is a Bag Boy three-wheel push cart. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner today is Brad Stieler of Mira Loma, California and Brad, to claim this Bag Boy push cart, just send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

Which country has never hosted golf’s World Cup? Is it:

A. Indonesia

B. Greece

C. Sweden or

D. Portugal

Just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and on Monday’s show, we’ll tell you which country has never hosted the World Cup and we’ll see if your answer was correct. Now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Who was the first golfer after Francis Ouimet to win in his major championship debut?

Although Ben Curtis is well-known these days for wearing NFL colors during tournaments, he certainly wasn’t a household name when he played in his very first major at the 2003 British Open. In fact, even a lot of the American players didn’t know who he was. But, maybe being an unknown helped take the pressure off of him and he shot a 69 in the final round for a final score of 1-under-par 283, which was enough to make him the first golfer since Francis Ouimet to win their major championship debut and moved him from 396th in the world, to 35th place on the World Golf Rankings.

So, if you answered D - then you were right and you’ve added one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings where you can win great golf prizes and today we’re giving away an OGIO Grom stand golf bag. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner today is Rocky Garcia of Del Rio, Texas. Congratulations, Rocky, you’ve just won this OGIO Golf bag and, in order to claim this prize, all you have to do now is send me an e-mail to me at Keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

C. Tiger Woods or

D. Ben Curtis

As always, mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and, on tomorrow’s show, we’ll tell you who it was - and, if your answer was correct, then you’ll add one more entry in our computer for our daily drawings. Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question on yesterday’s show, which was:

Who is the only golfer to win THE TOUR Championship shooting even par?

THE TOUR Championship began in 1987 and was the final event in the season for the PGA Tour, until last year, of course, when it became the final playoff tournament for the FedEx Cup.

Beginning with the tournament’s very first winner, Tom Watson, who shot a 12-under-par 268, through last year when Tiger Woods shot his amazing 23-under-par 257 to set the lowest winning score in the history of the tournament, every champion has always won with a final score that was at least 6-under-par, except for one, and that way Billy Mayfair, who shot an even par 280 to win in 1995.

So, if you answered B – then you were right, and you’ve added another entry in our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is a NIKE SQ Sumo-squared hybrid. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

And our winner today is Patrick Gilleo of Jacksonville, Florida. Congratulations, Patrick, and now to claim this great NIKE hybrid, which won a gold medal on this year’s Golf Digest Hot List, then be sure to send an e-mail to me at keri@golfnow.com within the next 30 days.

D. Tom Kite

Just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and then, on tomorrow’s show, we’ll tell you who it was – and you’ll find out if your answer was correct. Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Which member of the World Golf Hall of Fame shot the very first Archaeopteryx in golf?

The Silver Scot, Tommy Armour, was born on this date in either 1894, or 1895, depending on the source, and was considered to be one of the greatest players in the game, so much so that famed golf writer Bernard Darwin once wrote that - “His style is the perfection of rhythm and beauty”. In addition to winning over 20 tournaments and three Canadian Opens, Armour won every major except The Masters during his career – including the very first U.S. Open in 1927. But, just one week later, he also became the very first golfer to shoot an Archaeopteryx – which I’m sure you all knew is the term for 15-over-par on a single hole – when he shot a 23 on a par 5 at the 1927 Shawnee Open in New York, which is still – luckily – considered to be the highest score on a single hole in the history of the PGA.

Which member of the World Golf Hall of Fame shot the very first Archaeopteryxin golf? Was it:

B. Ray Ainsley
C. Ed “Porky” Oliver or

Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our question from yesterday’s show, which was:

Which one of these golfers has NOT won the PGA’s Payne Stewart Award?

Payne Stewart was an incredibly popular golfer on the PGA tour and his death in 1999 was a huge loss to the sport and to all of his fans around the world. Just three weeks after his death, the PGA Tour created the Payne Stewart Award to be given out at the end of the tour to a player who showed respect for golf’s traditions, along with professional conduct and dress and charitable support to the game. The very first award in 2000 was given to the three golfers who Stewart always said he admired the most – Byron Nelson, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus – and last year’s winner was Hal Sutton. We’re still waiting to hear who the winner will be this year but, so far based on the choices we gave you, Tiger Woods has yet to win the Payne Stewart Award.

So, if you answered B – then you were right, and that you added another entry into our computer for our daily drawings and with the next-to-last Highway 18 airing tonight on the Golf Channel, our prize today is another one of our Golf Channel Prize packages. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:

So, be sure to tune in tonight at 10pm Eastern Time for Highway 18, only on The Golf Channel. I’m Keri Murphy, thanks for watching and I’ll see you again tomorrow here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.

Friday, September 26th, 2008

It’s Monday, September the 22nd, I’m Keri Murphy and it’s time to kick off another week here on GolfNow’s Trivia Contest.

Hi, everyone, Keri Murphy back with you on GolfNow’s trivia contest. Our featured GolfNow course for today is the Experience at Koele on the island of Lanai – another course in our network where you can save when you book online with us at www.golfnow.com – the #1 tee time website in the nation.

Okay, let’s just get right to our first trivia question for the week, which is:

Which one of these golfers has NOT won the PGA’s Payne Stewart Award? Is it:

A. Jack Nicklaus
B. Tiger Woods
C. Gary Player or
D. Byron Nelson

As always, just mark your answer on the entry form at GolfNow.com and tomorrow, we’ll tell you who hasn’t won the very special award from the PGA – at least, not yet - and, if your answer was correct, then there will be one more entry in our computer with your name on it for our daily drawings.

Okay, now, let’s find out the answer to our final Ryder Cup trivia question from last Friday’s show, which was:

Which golfer has played in the most Ryder Cup Matches? = C. Nick Faldo

While Billy Casper holds the record for having played the most matches for Team USA with 37, Nick Faldo is hands down the winner for most Ryder Cup matches on either side of the pond with a total of 46. Faldo, in fact, holds the overall record in a number of different categories including Most Ryder Cup appearances – 11, Most Points Won – 25, Most Foursome Matches – 18, Most Four Ball Matches – 17 and Most Matches Won with 23 along with being at, or near, the top in many other categories and tied with some of his American adversaries in a few others. All of that experience will certainly be valuable to him as he makes his first appearance as captain of Team Europe this year, which should help make this year’s matches even more exciting as Europe tries to hold on to the cup for the fourth consecutive time.

So, if you answered C – then you were right, which means that you now have one more entry into our computer for our daily drawings and our prize today is an Odyssey White Hot Tour Putter. Okay, computer, show me today’s winner:
