Milltown

Founded in 1908, Milltown Golf Club in the city of the same name has seen major changes in years passed. The private course has been extensively redeveloped and its clubhouse redesigned, even further highlighting the property's rolling parkland layout and expansive panoramas. W.C. Pickeman, the late golf professional from Portmarnock, laid out the original course. Today, the 5,671-meter Milltown golf course, in the shadows of the Dublin Mountains, offers gently rolling fairways ideal for walking. The subtleties of the course once on it, however, are what gives it the reputation of being a great layout for the competitive golfer, and risk-reward opportunities are abundant. The first hole, for instance, a par-4, appears driveable from the tee, but the penalty for missing is a strong one. A restaurant is available in the clubhouse after the round, as are rooms to play snooker and bridge.
