Beautiful, challenging course
My son and I played this course from the 6,700 yard blue tees during a practice round for a tournament or else we probably would have played 6,300 yards. The course is set on a beautiful property and the contours of the terrain require somewhat careful shotmaking. The blues on the front 9 were almost 3,500 yards, and features some really long uphill holes, With the wind howling during our round, reaching greens in regulation was tough for both of us, and then, with a number of holes with false fronts and two-tiered greens, getting up and down was also challenging. Overall, a great test and for the money, totally worth it, especially with the Golfnow discount. I can see why the USGA is planning to host the US Public Links championship there.

Course is awesome. Very challenging and big time feeling. Nice use of the land. Nice staff. Sunday afternoon following a 9 4some outing?
On a Sunday afternoon with the temperature @ 35-40 degrees and rainy, there was an outing ahead of me. I, as a single asked the group I caught up with if I could play through and was denied by one of the members of the foursome. I later joined 3 players who were local and made a few calls to the clubhouse to get the groups to pick up pace. The group in front of us declared that there was nothing he could do about it cause the outing they were playing in required all players to putt everything out. These were players getting bogeys, double, and triple bogey at best. There was some help from staff and for about 5 holes the pace picked up to an acceptable level but then went back to waiting 3-5 minutes for each shot!! No kidding. The only reason I didn't leave was because I am from out of town and also the guys I played with were very funny and made the best of a lousey situation. What a shame that a beautiful course can be ruined by slow play. Especially surprising on such a raw afternoon that usually only brings out the hard core golfer type....
Teed off at 11:57am and finished at 6:00pm!!!!!!!!!

The course is nice. It is expensive. The staff treats the public poorly. Dont play there.
I have been there numerous times. The course is in good shape. The staff has harrassed me every time I have played there. As a member of the public, you are treated like a second class citizen. It is A municipal course that has memberships and they like to create an upper class feeling for the members. One time on January, I called to see if I was ok to dress in Nike warmups. They said yes. I got there and the starter told me I couldnt play as I did not have a collared shirt. on. It was 40 degrees. An argument ensued. It was not a fun round. Aniother time, I went to the practice area and the ranger said my ture was on the grass and I was chipping on the wrong area of the practice area. There wre no marlings or directions provided. Another time in March, I was with a twosome and a fourspome in front was talking on cellphones looking for balls in the woods. They became angry when we went around them to the next tee yelling at us. They called the ranger and he reprimanded us. They were members who lied to the ranger but the ranger kicked us off the course. Since members pay, they kiss up to them. This is the worst course I have ever been too for professionalism and customer service.

Great course in Lorton
This was the second time i played this course and it's in the dead of the winter and it still looked amazing. I would def play this course more if it wasn't so expensive.

Great layout
Arrived early and was greeted by the very friendly pro shop staff and on asking if I could tee off early was told the starter would fit me in when I was ready to play. On informing the starter that I had not played the course before he gave me a very detailed breakdown of the first 9 holes which added to my enjoyment. The course is challenging but fair with reasonably wide fairways and the rough is tricky to get out off but not too long that you can't find your ball. With all the frost lately I was impressed by teh condition of the course.
I will definately be back when the weather improves.

February Golf @ Laurel Hill
The greens ran a little slower than usual, but what can be expected after several hard freezes, and recent snow, sleet and ice? The course is in amazing condition considering it's February 6th.
Laurel Hill remains one of the very best courses in the area.

Great public course
Private course layout and conditions in a muni (but priced like a top tier private course).Great value on Golfnow but worth the full price.A definite "must" play.
February 7, 2013
tough course,
very fair couse, pro quailty, bring a few golf balls.wide open fairways, very tough approch shots. greens large and sloping. a true test of golf.

Great track
A hidden gem. I am certain that becasue it is a muni, it doesn't get teh recognition it deserves. Don't be fooled ... great track. Almost impossible to get on weekends ... GolfNow helped that this weekend!

Best public course in the area
Pace of play always fast. Great greens. A bit expensive for a public course but better than many private courses in the area

Excellent Condition and Layout!
Laurel Hill is a challenging and well-kept course fairly close to downtown Washington, DC. It is a long course (seems to play longer than 6,750 yards from the blue tees) but is fair and honest. Pace of play was excellent and staff very helpful. Greens were fairly smooth and relatively quick for the middle of winter. When running fast, downhill putts can be very difficult and proper placement of approach shots is essential to shooting a good score.

Wonderful day
The pace of play was wonderful. The golf course was in great shape. It was 70 degrees in December. It doesn't get any better.

Nice, challenging links-style course
This is a wonderful course to play and is even better when you get GolfNow deals below $50. It is a little pricey during the normal season when weekend fees are $100+.
The course in maintained very well and the greens are always super fast. I will always come back to Laurel Hills when the price is $75 or below.

I was surprised at the size of the landing areas of the fairways.
Great value thru Golfnow. The greens were very challenging.
The range with both turf and mats is a big plus.

Well maintained and great for all players.
Challanging and well maintained. Well layed out course with all items maintained like cart path, ball washers, carts, practice range, tee boxes, fairways and greens. Play this course and you'll want to return.

Great course, great value, great time
It was cold and windy but it didn't matter. From the tee box to the greens the course was in pristine condition. You would have never known it was fall, not a leaf in sight on the course. Greens rolled fast and true like they should, traps were groomed with bright white sand giving the course a nice visual contrast. I took a novice golfer and he was blown away by this course. We'll be sure to come back on a day where mother nature is more agreeable, but even the elements didn't take away from our great time. I've played over two hundred courses and the layout and consistent quality of this course ranks right up there with any other. Highly recommended

The course was in great shape, as usual.
It was a rather cold day and few people were on the course. The starter let us go off 30 minutes before our tee time. Good thing, because we would have been finishing in the dark. Not because of being held up by people in front of us. It is just a challenging course and takes a full 4 hours to play.

Fast greens and well cut fairways for this time of the year.
I must admit this course was everything that I expected it to be. I can understand why they charge as much as they do for a regular round because of the overall excellence. My only problem was that I was a single and had a group four in front of me all the way through the back nine and they never let me play through even though I was waiting on six of the tee off boxes for them to tee off. I was in a rush to get to a meeting afterwards and I didn't have time to stop in the pro shop.

The course was in great condition.
The course is in great condition but the price is usually a little pricey.I got a good deal on Golf now.I do not think I would play at the usual price they are asking.I am a retired person and do not have the money that they are asking to play that course. The rates for seniors are even higher than most places I play. Also, the age for seniors are even higher than most places I know.I play alot of golf and I think they can get more people playing that course if the price were lower as well as the age for seniors to play there...

Make sure you make this a 'course in regulation'
This course was HIGHLY recomended by a couple of friends. They were correct. First time going to this course. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Really nice golfing experience all around. They have done a great job and this is a very worthwhile local place to play.

Tough course, plays long.
One of my favorites. A bit expensive unless you get a deal. Some of the staff could be a bit more friendly but, overall a great place for a challenging round.
