Teravista Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course in Round Rock, Texas, regularly earns plaudits for being one of the best and most fun courses for all levels of golfers in the Austin metropolitan area. Located some 25 miles north of downtown Austin, the course fills up it tee time slots because golfers love its beauty, its challenging but manageable layout, its fine course conditions, and its excellent value. The golf course design firm of Clifton-Ezell-Clifton laid out Teravista Golf Club in 2002 on a site laden with rolling hills. Though the routing winds through a residential community and lots of beautiful houses line the fairways, the playing corridors are wide. Trees and natural areas also often provide buffers between the fairways and the homes. Teravista Golf Club rambles over classic, exposed, wind-battered Hill Country terrain. From the higher points on the playing field the vistas extend for 30 miles. The expansive, links-style layout is routed in two nine-hole loops. Five sets of tee markers provide distance options as short as 3,744 yards and as long as 7,039 yards. Clifton-Ezell-Clifton designed the course to be user-friendly for players of all ages and skill levels. Teravista Golf Club has been recognized for being a beginner-friendly track. Nonetheless, there s plenty of trouble to make scoring difficult. Nearly 70 strategically placed fairway and greenside bunkers dot the playing field. Water, present in the form of ponds and creeks, also enters the fray on more than half of the holes. Teravista Golf Club s appealing variety of straightaway and dogleg holes and its intricate green complexes call upon players to hit all manner of shots. Knolls and swales by the greens present interesting short game challenges. Naturally, the trouble only gets more threatening when the wind whips up, which occurs frequently. The TifEagle greens at Teravista Golf Club are large with modest undulations. Good putters tend to really enjoy the putting surfaces. You may want to come a little extra early for your tee time to warm up at Teravista Golf Club. The practice facilities include a double-sided driving range, two greenside and fairway bunkers, chipping green, and what may be the largest putting green in Austin. Adding to the fun, TopTracer Mobile technology is now available also. The clubhouse features an extensively stocked pro shop and a cafe that is open from mid-morning until mid-afternoon.
