the layout is great, eespecially the view. My golf buddy and I always enjoy play this beautiful course. Its so well maintained and challenging holes. the greens were slower than usual made a lot of 3 putts. The mosquitoes were bad, due to , all the recent rains. I can't wait for my two brothers to coming down and play this course. October 13, 2014
Mosquito paradie still fun to play Take a lot of DEET if it has rained! It is A fun course but their sand traps need a lot of work some were mud, the others, lakes. They have great rental clubs and very nice staff. Overall a good day of golf if you are at SPI. October 4, 2014
Near perfection The course was beautiful. The bay breeze helped dissipate some of the heat. The course wasn't as difficult as I was led to believe. Even though there was some water in play, I loved the that there were lots of sand traps. The only complaint I have is that the first three holes are nearly unplayable because of the rising sun in your eyes to greet you for your 7:45 am tee time. Lost a few golf balls that way. Bunkers need work Several of the bunkers only had dirt and no sand. The bunkers that were playable had new sand and difficult to play. August 17, 2014
Great Layout but course needs some TLC I always enjoy playing the South Padre Island Course when I come down to South Padre Island for vacation. I had not played the course in at least 5 years and this was the worst condition I saw the course in. The greens were fine and the fairways were decent. But all of the bunkers were in very poor shape. This is a fun course to play, just needs a little bit of TLC to get it back to the course I remembered playing years ago. August 7, 2014
Great course, Great View! This course sits about 10 miles from South Padre Island, so the coastal air is always in play. Only 3 holes play around the coast, (#3, #4, #5). The signature hole par-3 #3 is beautiful, but you should club up a few to reach the green. The further back your tee selection, the more brush you'll have to deal with to make the fairway. Fairways are smooth and rolling. There are a few greens that have two tiers, or more. Bottom line, if you have a consistent swing, you'll be fine. If you are a little wild off the tee, bring extra golf balls. July 29, 2014
Nearly a really good course I played three early morning rounds at the course. This has the look of a course that needs some investment in it. The fairways and greens are in very good condition for the most part. Its proximity to the lagoon on the western side of South Padre Island gives the course an occasional links feel, and there is plenty of water on the course. Some of the rough is extremely wild and the pathways between holes tend to be surrounded by wild vegetation. The paths on the fairways are only partially metalled, so this could be an issue in bad weather. My cart got stuck on the cart path on hole 7, due to wet mud. The staff were pretty friendly, although the green staff seemed more interested in finishing mowing than letting players play. I was told that there has been a recent change in ownership and that the course is looking better than it ever has, so it is possible that this course may be transformed from good to great.
