Good course, rude marshall
I have played this course several times and like the overall design of having six par 3's, six par 4's and 6 par 5's. I was also looking forward to the new sand in the bunkers. We ended up not playing and got a refund due to the way we were treated by the marshall on the first tee. We were on the tee at our starting time and the marshall was yelling at us to get off the tee because it wasn't our turn. I don't have a problem stepping aside if it's not my turn, but he could've been a little more polite in how he approached us instead of yelling from a distance. We packed up, went to The Trails of Frisco and got right on. I'm sure I'll go back to Westridge, but it may be a while.

Open course. Bunkers undergoing renovation. Greens not great.
Overall a good course that is very open and fair. Good to see that work is underway to renovate the bunkers which were bad last year. Greens are not great. Had just played at a course in Frisco with great greens. West Ridge greens have so many undulating areas that is is difficult to see a hole placement on a relatively flat area. Great puts can roll off to the sides of holes by 10 or 12 feet on many holes. Not because they are too fast but rather due to holes seemingly places on sides of rolls in the greens.

Intersting layout....very busy course
I really like the layout with 6 Par 3's, 6 Par 4's and 6 Par 5's. The Staff is very friendly and accommodating, with a terrific practice facility.
The only negative is that they seem to overbook the tee-times, because the 2 times I have been there the tee-times are backed up at least 10 minute late, and the course has been VERY crowded.
It seems to be a very family friendly facility and environment, but at the cost of expecting 4-1/2 hour rounds.
Oh well, for the $20 I paid for an afternoon round... can't really complain much.

Drunk Cart Girl and Poor Player Etiquitte
What to say about this course. They are currently upgrading a lot of bunkers so it was almost like playing golden tee avoiding obstacles. The course itself is very challenging. 18 holes can take an easy 4-5 hours. The Pros- The guys in the pro shop were professional and courteous. The Cons- 1. Our cart girl was hammered. We ran into her on hole 4, and were assured she would be back. When we got to the back 9, we stopped off at the clubhouse (1 1/2 hours later), the cart girl was hanging out claiming she had a family emergency (ok then why are you still hanging out). The seem to have issues keeping their carts running. One of the staff was towing a cart in. While driving down the cart path he was completely oblivious to the players and drove on through while the warning beeper on his cart was going off. Too many kids on this course, we were on our second shot on a par 5 when the kids playing behind us decided not to wait for us to clear our second shot. I was grazed by a drive.

Great Coursre
The course is in good condition. They are doing some work to the bunkers, but all in all it is a great value.

Good course still working on it
This was the second time I played this course, and I could tell that they have been working on the bunkers to get them corrected. The regulars seemed to be agitated that we weren't playing fast enough, even though we finished in under four hours. Overall the course was fun, the newly reworked bunkers were good, and once the other bunkers get fixed I will probably give this a 4star.
Pick your tee box wisely, because there are very short and very long par fours.

Fun, unique track. Overall quality standby.
This is one of my favorite "average type" courses to play when I'm visiting the McKinney area. I have played this course several times as a single grabbing a last minute deal on the weekend. I do mean DEAL! I have snagged a $15 round twice, and several $22-26 rounds. The staff has always been friendly and I have always had a good time with the threesomes I get added to. 6 par 5's, 6 par 4's, and 6 par 3's make this track very unique. It's a refreshing change. If you haven't played this course, give it a try! I "George Foreman" guarantee you won't be dissapointed.

Love the course layout it has something for every golfer.
The course layout is impressive and not overly crowded by houses like many of the courses DFW has to offer. The greens were in good shape and the bunkers that needed attention were under repair. All and all great bang for your buck!

Great minus construction
Other than the bunkers being under contruction, it was great! Also, booking a 3some before and after a 4some happens, but I wouldn't mind being bumped to allow the 3some after us to go ahead. They were clipping at our heels most of the day, and hit into us a couple of times.
Course is great! Staff is great! Food was great!

Fun course
Some bunkers under repair. Others had water. Overall, course in good shape

Cool Setup
The only course in Texas with a 6x6x6 setup... A lot of fun to play, and a great opportunity for some low scores. I ususally play 4 or 5 strokes better than my average score when I tee it up at Westridge which is always encouraging and makes for a great handicap booster.
The practice area is top notch and has plenty of space for a solid warm up.
Good course. Nice Greens. 6 chances to put it in the cup from the tee box.

Good condition over all considering the recent snow & rain.
Many of sand traps need work - low on sand and not draining correctly.
Over all a good golf experience.

Excellent Course
Love the fact that there are 3-3s, 3-4s and 3-5 Pars on both front and back

Great course
Got a great deal on golf now and played there for first time. I will be back.

Good open course
Its a winding course that go's through the neighbor hood

Pace of play was very good. Good course overall.
The 6-6-6 layout (par 3's, par 4's, par 5's) is a nice change of pace.

A good value
Front nine plays easier than the back; consequently, slow play usually results on the back 9. Also airplanes taking off and landing on back 9 can be distracting. Bunkers were hard as rocks and unkept; standing water in a couple.

Great Price on a MOnday afternoon
Just played Westridge yesterday. On the weekends, this is a $60+ course. During the weekdays after 1 you can typically play for $29. Great course for the weekday value and we were fortunate enough to hardly have anyone out there..barely saw anyone the whole time. Course is well maintained, plenty of space (no fairways right next to each other) and there is a cool small airport right near the course (planes come in to land right over your head). Very well maintained course, greens are tough..fairways are wide open.

One of My Favorite Courses
We teed off at 7:30AM on a Saturday morning, with two threesomes in front of us. We played at a fairly quick pace and finished in 3.5 hours. The tee boxes looked like they might have recently been over seeded/fertilized, and they needed to be mowed. The bunkers are generally in bad shape, with horrible drainage issues, and most of them are almost like hitting off of a dirt road, which is really disappointing. The #17 hole's greenside bunker has nice plush sand, but that's the only one I noticed yesterday with good sand. Having said all of that, the rest of the course was in great shape.
The one thing that really takes away from the overall experience is the Men's Restroom. They've apparently been having problems with it for quite a while. One of the sinks doesn't work, and the entire restroom smells horribly of urine. It desperately needs attention.

best value for the money
is this place going to wow you with scenery or difficulty or ever be listed as an all time great? no but it is the best value for the money when you get a cheap tee time from golf now. the course is always maintained sometimes they have issues with the sand traps after a rain but you cant beat a round of golf for under $20 at a well maintained course.
I play her several times a month.

One of My Favorite Courses in N Texas Area
Sand Traps need attention, otherwise a great course to golf at in the area
October 21, 2012
A very nice layout!
This was a fun golf course. It had a good balance of par 5's, (6), (6) par 4's and (6) par 3's. The greens were excellent, not too fast and not too slow. The back nine is a little more difficult than the front.
October 5, 2012
Tight hole for sure
This course has nickel size nipples but is capable of dime sized ones.
October 4, 2012
Great Course
One of my top 3 courses to play within 45 minutes of Dallas. Course is usually in great shape, with quick true greens. Pace of play is usually decent.
October 4, 2012
Nice spot
Its a great course to work on your game. The carts have GPS which is an added bonus.
September 25, 2012
ok
They oversold the course for $60+ on the round. 5 plus hours for 18. Sand traps are junk. Outside of that its a good spot
September 24, 2012
Good value for the money
Course in good shape and it actually has bunkers you can play out of. Greens were quick and true. Will play again in the future.
