Cowan Creek Golf Club is the newest championship golf course at Sun City. Just outside of Austin, TX, Cowan Creek opened its fairways in November of 2008. Come enjoy the rolling fairways and water features Cowan Creek offers.

You will experience a true "resort-course" feeling, as each hole has its own character. Designed by Gary Stevenson, Cowan Creek plays at 7050 yards from the black tees. Featuring 5 sets of tees Cowan Creek offers every golfer a challenging yet fair round. The course has large landing areas and generous greens. The fairways are lined with classic hill country terrain, cactus, mesquite trees and wild life. There are few water carries, but be ready for the first hole with its creek carry into a dog-leg left. The 14th hole is one of the most intriguing risk reward holes in all of Central Texas golf.

Cowan Creek has a 9,000 sq ft putting green, a large driving range, along with chipping, pitching and sand practice areas.

Good course, grumpy staff This is the second Sun City course I've played. Didn't think it was in as good of shape as White Wing, but still maintained. Again, the facilities are great. The staff here doesn't seem to care much for non-residents, especially those under-55. Still, this is a good course for a great value and I'll be back. March 19, 2013
Solid Course This is the newest course in the Sun City Development and probably the best maintained. I have played here probably 10 times total and this is definitely the easiest of the three Sun City courses. The course is very wide open and very forgiving, the greens are in great shape as well. As for the pace of play, usually if you play early morning you can get around quickly - I have never had a super long round here as it tends to be the most expensive of the three Sun City Courses which keeps people off of it. If you are looking to shoot a decent score, play here! March 5, 2013
Tough conditions-Great course It was very windy when we played but overall a good experience February 18, 2013
Had to wait 20 minutes for an open range spot Out of season, nothing over-seeded. Better than a muny and priced slightly better than daily fee courses. February 17, 2013
One of three What a great golf course and golf facility, super practice range with sand traps, chipping area, hitting and putting. Always fun to play this course which is one of 3 very good gold courses all within walking distance, at least cart driving distance from each other and all very reasonable, great value. February 11, 2013
A great course A very nice course. I had a great time. I will go back again. February 11, 2013
Winter golf conditions, however, course is in great shape. Big difference between greens on front 9 and back 9. Front 9 greens very fast, back 9 greens very slow. Pace of play a little slow. 4-some immediately ahead of us became a 5-some about hole # 11 - 12. Did not think 5-somes were allowed on Sun City courses. February 8, 2013
Only at a discounted price. No starter to organize the chaos at the first tee. Course seemed overwatered. Large greens were nice but they need some attention. At least three of the flag positions were within 6 or 7 ft of the greens edge which seems silly given the large size of the greens. No map of the course or individual holes on the score card. No hole layout map at the tee box markers. The 3 or 4 blind tee shots required our foursome to drive up 200+ yards each time to determine where we were going. The green / red light system on the blind holes was not used by the group in front of us. No beverage/snack cart out on the course. No snack bar at the turn, only a vending machine. Carts were clean and well maintained. Some nice scenic views. January 29, 2013
Rather wet course Nice lay out but because of drainage problems several holes are very muddy However my wife did make a hole in one on hole number 10 agreat ace at 140 yards from the green tees! January 29, 2013
A fun round Was a beautiful January Sunday morning. Course was not crowded. It was in good shape for this time of year. Greens were fast, but receptive to iron shots. January 21, 2013
Superb Course - No Snack bar This course was in great shape, and was fun to play... but I failed to see where they do not have a snack bar. I am told they are quite liberal with you bringing your own beverages and snacks to the course. There is a small Market at the corner of Sun City and Del Webb that I would suggest stopping at to grab some snacks before heading to the course. Other than that, it was a great course. January 7, 2013
Challeging course and fun Some holes are very challenging with narrow fairways, yet others are easily accessible. Played well, but fast greens and very difficuly pin placement took a few strokes off my usual round. Overall, I like Cowan Creek. January 7, 2013
Winter conditions, but still good The fairways on Cowan and the other Sun City courses have finally gone dormant for the winter, but were still in good condition, not hard. Greens were in good condition for the time of year. This is the easiest of the 3 Sun City courses with nice wide driving areas. January 5, 2013
Enjoyed the round Had a shotgun start for this teetime, great winter conditions, pace improved after 4 holes December 25, 2012
Really nice winter conditions Overall, Cowan Creek is a great course and an excellent value. We finished in about 4.5 hours, and didn't see a single green with any notable issues. I'll be playing it often this winter. December 23, 2012
Worth the money spent The Course was in decent shape having not been over seeded and the savings from GOLFNOW.COM was the best. I highly recomend the golfnow.com site for anyone that wants to book a tee time. December 19, 2012
Well maintained course Well maintained golf course. A little over booking which caused a backup after a few holes. Marshall did a great job of controlling play before it became an issue. December 19, 2012
Cowan Creek Golf Course Considering the fact that the Almighty Golfer is really mad at the state of Texas and we are experiencing a horrific, terrible drought, the course is in GREAT shape. This was my first time playing here and I drove a pretty long way to get here, but I really enjoyed it and I plan on coming back. Good customer service is rare in this day and age, but Josh in the pro shop was GREAT. THANKS JOSH! December 13, 2012
Nice course. This course has many challenging holes. it would be nice if they had a snack bar and beverage cart going around to service the players. December 11, 2012
Very nice and playable Really good course. Nice mix of hard and easy holes. Greens in great shape. Pace of play tends to be a little on the slow side but hey, it's Sun City, so what's the hurry? December 7, 2012
Great! Super weather, good company, enjoyable pace and round. We need rain all over but course maintenance/management has done a good job under the circumstances. Huge greens, watered sufficiently to hold, speed (0-10 with 10 being very fast) I would rate 6, maybe 7. This was my first round at Cowan Creek but definitely not the last! December 6, 2012
Nice layout, challenging greens Nice course layout. Fairways are in good shape. The greens are very well maintained, hard to read, and roll fast. November 20, 2012
Great place, great greens, beautiful playable design. Too bad thouses are coming in. Greens were SWEET, course is better than Legacy even. November 19, 2012
It's a great courses for the seniors! Wide fairways & big yard greens give a lot forgiving for high handicappers. Well maintained! Only thing distract me is a slow play. No marshal presented. November 16, 2012
We love this course However, they put us right in the middle of a scramble and we would have played a round in well over 5 hours. After waiting three holes in a row we decided it was not worth it. Since we bought our green fees on golf now we could not get a refund... Needless to say we won't be going back. November 13, 2012
Very good value for the dollar FYI, the drag feature does not work well at all. Excellent golf course. Greens good, although not excellent. Tee boxes were in great condition. Fairways in very good condition. Sand traps in very good condition. Love the layout. The course designer did a great job with the natural landscape. Overall, excellent grades from me as far as the on-course situation. If I were to change anything, then it would be to have a person riding around with drinks and snacks. Also, a snack-bar in the clubhouse would be nice. Anyways...love the course and will definitely be back soon. November 12, 2012
This is a good course. Pace of play was slow since this is a retirement community course and there were many locals playing. This along with the time change didn't allow us to finish the round. The course was a good shape and a fun place to play. November 10, 2012
Great as always The greens have improved dramatically from summer. November 5, 2012
Nice course, needs to mature a little more but great potential Greens have recently been seeded, most were great but several slower because they were at a different stage. November 1, 2012
Pleasant and well kept year-round! This is certainly a course that we go back to often. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers, and greens are always in fine shape. And there are just enough special/interesting holes to make it entertaining, etc. And with GolfNow discounted tee times (always with range balls), it can easily become a really good value for your money. The staff are always nice and I find the area (sans big city hustle & bustle) quite relaxing. October 31, 2012
