Wildhorse Golf Club of Robson Ranch 3.8 5 30 30
Great course, in excellent condition. Pleasant surprise. After hot August weather, course was still in excellent shape and well maintained. Greens were fast and consistent. Teeing grounds were level and well manicured. Course layout is fairly open with both long and short holes. Has doglegs left and right, and water comes in play also. Provides challenges for all skill levels. October 14, 2012
Wildhorse GC was in decent shape but the greens were very slow and need to be cut. Course has little character. First let me say that this was my first visit to Wildhorse Golf Club. I found the course to be in decent shape on 4-05-13 but the greens were very slow. Greens were actually in good shape but need to be cut badly. The course has very little character. It is like playing in a wide open field. There is little not no rough. I played from the back tees (Black). Most par 4's I hit 9,8,7 iron. The par 3's are the biggest challenge as a couple played 200+ yards. No way would I rate this course a 4 star course just because the fairways and greens had grass on them. I honestly don't think I would go back.....just a blah course where every hole looks pretty much the same as the last. April 5, 2013
I tried to be fair and give it another chance. I do not recommend this course! "I have played this course three times now and every time I have experienced trouble with the Marshals/Player assistants. The course is nothing spectacular. It is a challenging course strictly due to the hazards not being well kept.(not a compliment) The Course seems always to be slow. The marshals seem to be more involved with course challenges i.e. the placement of carts as you drive them than the rate of play by the groups in front of you. It is a very "Member" friendly course and though they are an open to the public course I have not felt welcomed as a non-member. The Good ole boy network is in full swing! The course is considered two nine hole courses once you are there. The Mustang and the Wildhorse So the tenth hole backup is extreme due to the number of people that take long breaks in the club house. They even have a sign after the 9th green telling you to check in to the clubhouse before going to the tenth.(Mostly members it seems.)The Pro-shop has no visual of the first or tenth tees so they are dependent upon the marshals input from radios. On my first visit we came to number ten straight off nine and were found to all of a sudden be behind 5 foursomes. None of these was in front of us but when we questioned we were told by the marshals that they were ahead of us. Frustrating to say the least. While it is a decent golf course, I will not play it again for the overcrowding and the poor management from the clubhouse of the member marshals. I don't play golf to be harassed. The last time on March 16th 2013 we left the 18th green to go to the chipping greens and were told by the marshals we had to park the carts and carry our clubs to the chipping area by the 1st tee. We were parked in front of the chippiing greens finishing our scorecards and told him our intentions. Needless to say he was basically accusing me of trying to start another round. I was offended to say the least. I spoke with the head pro and He said that he would address this but I dont have any confidence of change as these marshals are resident members who seem to have a power issue. The fact that I had run ins with the marshals all 3 times I played says it is a recurring issue. I average 2 rounds of golf a week and I have not had conversations with marshals for any reason on any other courses, so I dont think I am the problem. I will admit I have played each time on this course at dicounted rates, but that is not any reason to have a bad experience or be treated inferior to those paying full price. Not only that I refuse to apologize for being smart enough to get the discounts that the course makes avaliable. I say this because the person behind the counter made reference to this when asking about prices, I guess trying to make me and my partner "feel bad" or something. It won’t matter from this point forward and I will never pay full or discounted price for that kind of “golf experience " again. March 20, 2013
Not worth the time or money I have never written a review on any golf course and we have played several off of Golf Now in the DFW area but this one deserved a review. They have no drink carts, they had very little water in coolers on the course, they had porta potty's for bathrooms. The grill was closed at 4PM on a Sunday, the pro shop was closed at 4PM on Sunday so no soda or snacks available. The bar was open but you had to go to it because like I said there was no drink cart. No a good time at all, and oh yeah the marshals didn't do anything about the speed of play and we got 16 holes in 4 1/2 hours and it got dark. March 7, 2013
Good value course. Alittle slow but worth the wait. Very laid back not a good course for the impatient. Needs a beverage cart person. Good value course. Alittle slow but worth the wait. Very laid back not a good course for the impatient. Needs a beverage cart person. March 5, 2013
Nice for a quick weekday get-away This is a nice golf course within a nice retirement community. Good for a weekday get-away. Folks are mostly nice and are playing to enjoy the game, which is refreshing. I mostly golf solo, and while playing yesterday, I was often invited to play along or pass on through. This made for a quicker pace. The course has some construction currently underway AROUND IT, so if you lose a ball, it will probably end up in a bulldozer seat or a ditch somewhere. The 18th hole had some repairs being done on one of the sand traps, and the coke machine (around hole 10?) isn't working, so I ended up without my soft drink, minus $1. Overall, small stuff for what you get with a great deal from GolfNow.com. February 28, 2013
This course was in great shape considering its still winter. The grass was green and greens roled fair. The course was in great shape considering its still winter. February 25, 2013
Great course for the right price...plus wind Considering the course is still in winter conditions the round went fast. The course can be the windest in Texas at times and skill is needed for it. February 24, 2013
VERY POOR EXPERIENCE This Was The Second Time I Played This Course And initially I Was Excited And impressed With The scenery And Facility. It Didn't Take Long For My Opinion To Change. The Young Lady In The Club House Was Disinterested And Bothered To Be Dealing With Us. She Showed Poor Customer Service Skills. By The Time We Tee'd Off We Were Told Atleast 5 Times That It Was Cart Path Only? Needless To Say It Hadn't Rained In The Area For A Couple Of Days. Once We Were Out On The Course It Seemed We Were The Only Ones Abiding By The Rules , As Members Of The Course Were Driving All Over The Fairways And Were Quick To Hit Into Us And Hurry Our Play. I Would Not Recommend This Course To Anyone. February 24, 2013
Nice course for any level Greens were in pretty good shape for the middle of the winter, however there was still a temporary green on number 9 on the back just as it had been the last time I played there, which was about 6 to 8 months ago. I like the course. February 23, 2013
Wide open yet challenging Lots of dog legs and native grass brush/grass areas, yet wide fairways make this course challenging yet give you the feeling you've got a chance to do well on every hole. Our foursome liked the fact that although there are homes around the course, they are not on top of the course. Peaceful setting...right amount of water. We'll definitely play it again. February 17, 2013
$25 was good price Weather was horrible so it took away from the experience February 16, 2013
greens are in good shape;staff is very friendly; course is great shape I really enjoyed course with greens and fairways in very good shape and the staff is friendly January 25, 2013
Great Golf Course Robson Ranch Golf Club was in great shape for the beginning of January, and the staff was very friendly. Me, my grandad, and my cousin had a great time, and I will definitely be back. January 6, 2013
This course was in fantastic shape for this time of the year. I would recommend this course to anybody , no matter what their handicap level is. Great upkeep of the course, the greens were in fantastic shape for being winter time. The staff on hand were extremely friendly as well as helpful. It was a Great Experience !!! I highly recommend that anyone that gets a chance you will not regret booking a tee time at this course. I plan on experiencing this course multiple times in the future. January 3, 2013
The course layout is challenging and pace of play was very good. The only problem with the course that almost everyhole was oversaturated with water from the night before. December 10, 2012
Great Course, lots of fun The condition of the course was very good. The greens were in great shape for this time of year. The pace of play was okay but some bad golfers in front of us but the marshalls stayed on top of it. The only negative is the cost of food and drinks in the bar which are high. December 7, 2012
Fun course. Greens were a little slow due to being sanded. Part of playing in December. Excellent value and great clubhouse and pro shop. December 7, 2012
5* -Course Challenge, 5* -Course Greens, 5* - Club House Service, 5* -Price Incredible course layout and great condition of the greens. REAL bargain & a true hidden secret!!! A MUST play for folks. Wonderful Club House to have a cigar after round. Sand traps were in great shape, tight fairways for second shots, & pins tucked in tough locations. "Skins" course for "boys outing" November 17, 2012
Great Course Course was in excellent condition and the staff was very welcoming. Had a low tire on the cart and staff came out and swapped it immediately with no hold ups. Course wasn't busy and pace of play was excellent. Fairways, greens, tee-boxes, and sands were all well kept, especially for mid-November. I will definitely try to play here again if I can. November 14, 2012
Hidden gem Wildhorse at Robson Ranch is a very well maintained and challenging course. Some sand and water along with thick rough. We had a great time here, it's worth the drive to play here, especially with a GolfNow deal. November 7, 2012
Great greens! We enjoyed it very much. The greens were in great shape. November 4, 2012
challenging course well maintianed, but challenging course, would go again November 4, 2012
Good course Nice place, not very crowded. Everything was green, rough is a little thick but still maintained. Good value for the money. Will play again. October 31, 2012
Back to normal This course is generally in good shape. Recently, they have been doing some work on the course. It is now completed and so we are back to normal. The greens are deceptive and were a little slow this day. The fairways were in good condition. The traps are fair and better than many other courses. I always enjoy playing this coarse and wood recommend it for any skill level. October 25, 2012
Really enjoyed some of the long holes Thought that the course was a good enough course to return and play again, just going to have to figure out a schedule for when it is not over crowded. I normally play 18 holes in 3 hours or less, and I was on the verge of hitting 5 hours that day. Course management really should have spread out the 4 some groups; felt almost like a corporate team building event with that many people around one another. I even saw people quit playing after 9 holes, assumably for congestion. Grill was excellent, and staff was helpful, best Rueben I have had in a long time. October 15, 2012
Beautiful greens, nice course, heavy rough Nice layout with very few trees. Well placed and groomed sand traps and water hazzards. Good condition, ample fairways surrounded by thick rough that is not so deep that you loose your ball but you will NOT get out clean. The greens are the nicest in Texas. October 7, 2012
This course has great features Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch is a very nice course. It has wide open fairways but does not make your round easy. It has rolling hills and is a shotmakers course. I really enjoyed this course and would definitely recommend it to friends. October 7, 2012
Good fairways. Thick rough. Endured the dry summer well. Nice greens. Nice bar. A little expensive for drinks. Retirement community course. Well kept. October 4, 2012
Fun to Play, Good Challenge I alway enjoy playing Wildhorse. It's in a retirement community and everyone is generally friendly. I've paired up with some of the local gentlemen at times and it was enjoyable. The course is fair and offers a variety of shots for every skill level. Greens are undulated more than some in our area offering a nice putting challenge. The hot deals are generally great for this course and a real bargain for what you get. Cart girls are not out often, but there is plenty of water around the course. September 20, 2012
