Very nice course I liked the variety of holes and it was beautiful and in good shape. I'll play it many times again! July 21, 2015
Wonderful experience! Great golf course! Very well maintained! Great layout! Staff was exceptionally friendly! Wonderful experience! July 16, 2015
A slow day at Avery I was in town for a wedding, and I wanted to get one last round in with a friend. 5 and a half hours later we were able to complete 18 holes of golf. The course was not in great shape. The fairways were really shaggy. The greens were in horrible shape for the price they were charging. The bunkers were filled with rocks. We were partnered up with another single who quit after 9 holes because of the pace of play. There was 4 groups all day on holes. Marshal would ride around, but never really got groups to pick up the pace. They had a single playing infront of us( he ended up pairing up in our group) who actually works at the course. He said they had over 200 players schedule for tee times today. With that being said, it was a shame the starter was failing to do his job. The track itself was fun. The back nine has 3 par 5s and 3 par 3s. July 12, 2015
Course review I love this track and think it is really one of the best layouts in the area. The cost of playing has been creeping up to the extent it has out priced what I think it should cost which has me playing more places (using Golfnow to book) instead of playing Avery. Especially since the green conditions has not been good at all. I played last week and find the greens are in much better shape, almost back to being normal. If we keep getting those spotty rain showers the course may be back to great shape as soon as this week (W/O July 6). It has been reported that Avery has been sold, which was confirmed, and the reported new group should be a great fit for Avery. I won't speculate on who it is as I don't have confirmed information, but if the rumors are true it should be a great thing for Avery. I hope they modify the rates moving them lower so I can afford to play more than once a quarter. The staff is great! July 9, 2015
Pretty uet challenging course Course is in great condition. It is challenging because of uneven lies. The staff is not as friendly as expected and I felt rushed the entire 18 even though we finished in 3hr 45min July 8, 2015
Great layout, bad greens and way over priced for quality of greens. The course was empty. Likely due to quality of greens and the price for the round. The price isn't an issue when the course is in great shape. July 7, 2015
Overpriced golf course with rude staffs They were hosting a junior PGA tournament event for kids 8-14 year old. I was caddying for my son. On the 4th hole we played, right before a kid was about to swing.. the marshall called out "you need to pick up the pace as you are on pace for a 6 hours round of golf". I think that comment is uncalled for. We were about 10 mins behind pace, but a simple "please pick up pace" should do the job. After our round, I went to the Pro shop and told them about the rude comment and the Pro shop assistance simply said "I stand by my marshall and doubt he said what you claim he said.. " We have 3 parents witness that and this is EXCELLENT customer service from the Pro shop guy to call me a liar. His attitude was "why are you here playing at our course?" My suggestion to Avery Ranch is, Don't host any event and make your course private. Take some customer service/ hospitality training. There are so many good golf course in the Austin area, this is definitely NOT one of them. July 7, 2015
