Rain soaked and aerated greens. It's normally a fine course but due to the recent amount of rain and the greens being aerated it was a mess. My opinion is that it should not have been open. April 3, 2013
Great and interesting course. This course sits on rolling and some very low land. The previous night had very heavy rainfall. Although we enjoyed the course and our treatment from the staff, cart trail only being necessary because of the very wet conditions made our day a little less enjoyable. We look forward to playing this course with better playing conditions. We appreciate a course this nice allowing four retired seniors to play with a reduced rate. March 20, 2013
very fast greens for the time of year we played, temp was 42 degees, the greens were excellent. for the amount of undulation they have and the spped, it is very challanging. the course itself is pretty hilly leaving you with some drastic elevation changes. great course. February 22, 2013
Nice Layout I like the variations of holes, challenging but not too tough. The day I played it was exceptionally wet, cart path only, and standing water in many places/fairways. The greens were sneeky quick with a lot of turn, although they were also a little bumpy from ball marks (probably due to the wet conditions recently). January 13, 2013
Beautiful views and fast greens For under $30 this is the best course I've played in a looong time. Made the terrible mistake of playing in 35 degree weather, but the staff was so nice they gave me a voucher for the back nine when I come back. Greens were super fast and the bunkers are well placed and challenging. December 12, 2012
close to home easy to get to nice course good condition fair price December 4, 2012
Nice course, as usual. Played in mid/late November. Variety of holes adds to the experience. Course was in nice shape for this time of year -- Nov. 21st. I'm sure the greenskeeping staff knows they need to add some sand to the bunkers in early spring. November 22, 2012
Love this course, great layout, challenging but fair. Staff not really very friendly from the proshop to the grill. Love this course, great layout, challenging but fair. Staff not really friendly, could use some additional customer service training. November 10, 2012
Overpriced Golf course maintenance has declined considerably. Bunkers are unplayable (no sand, Rocks). Tees and greens are pretty beat-up. With a price point simmilar to Willow Creek and Rarity Pointe near by, I would avoid Avalon. October 22, 2012
Good layout and greens are in good shape overall. All greens but one were in really good shape and held shots well. Fairways were good for this time of year. There are several elevated tee boxes that offered fantastic views of the landscape and I would recommend the course for future play. I will definitely be coming back! October 20, 2012
Great course, Staff were friendly and helpfull Good seperation from diffrent tee boxes. Excelent Fairways and Bunkers. Had alot of rain night before tee time, good drainage. The greens were still rolling good even though they were air- rated, They have nice undulations and you need to hit your approch shot in the correct area for a good chance at Birdie. We are looking forward to the next chance we get to play again, And would recomend to anyone to play here. October 11, 2012
why not ? the course provides a variety of holes for the average golfer .a good mix challenges that challenge a golfers skills October 7, 2012
Not a high end course Good greens make or break a course. These showed some pretty bad wear in several spots. Driving range is too small and beaten up pretty bad. Putting green is extremely sloped so I didn't feel it would reflect the speed of the greens on the course. Not close enough to clubhouse on the turn that you would stop for anything. Course is laid out nice but it is not up to par with the better courses in this area. October 6, 2012
Up, Up and UP.... Avalon is a course located in a large housing development on the west side of Knoxville. It was developed by the Landmark Corporation and bares some similarities to other Landmark properties I have played... mainly in California. This track is really cut into, over and around the Tennessee mountains. It requires more club than the yardage calls for because of a large number of uphill shots. (It reminded me of the stories I heard from my parents about having to walk to school and home...up hill both ways!!) One area of concern is that the bent grass greens were heavily stressed. They need some help. Regardless, if you get a Golf Now hot deal....its worth it! October 6, 2012
Overall a great course just needs a little work on greens Staff is friendly, Grill is great. Some of the greens are pretty rough. Sparce grass. Other than that the rest of the course was in good shape September 25, 2012
This course has good time This course are everything ok, but pace of play is over than other course September 24, 2012
Wonderful course. We thoroughly enjoyed our round at Avalon. The course was in great condition, especially the fairways. The rough although only 2-4 in bermuda played extremely tough. Staff were extremely friendly and courteous. Can't wait to play there again! September 20, 2012
