The course was in poor spring conditions
All fairways were "brown". Green grass was absent.
Greens were alos in a bad shape...

Easy Myrtle Beach Location
Very easy to find from Myrtle Beach. Staff: some friendly some not so friendly. Driving range and practice green available. Our round took 5hrs 40mins. Usually we have beverage or two only to find that bathrooms are scarce on this course. So much so that we had to take time to go find one when it started to have an effect on our play. Nice layout and water really plays well. Drive ahead to look at your green before you approach it will payoff. Well maintained and very playable. Not sure if I would play again because i like to have an adult beverage and have latrines accessible and I also like play time to not exceed 4hrs 30mins. Excellent rates though! For the rates I would consider playing there again. Of course i had a discounted tee time from golfnow.com.

Good condition for early spring. Greens rolled nicely - fairways were dormant.
Good value - we played for $19 (Golfnow). Perfect early season tuneup with condition of course and terrific price.

Good for the money
Not a bad course. Played it early in the season. Not as much winter overseeding as other courses but the layout was interesting and the price was great. Play this course if you're looking for great value but don't need pristine conditions

Good for early season golf.
I left snow to come to the MB area so I was looking for a course to knock off the rust on my game. The tees are flat and the greens rolled smooth. The fairways were not over seeded so dormant Bermuda was the most common sight. There are a few forced carries that keep this course from being easy, but even they aren't too difficult.

value course
for the $25 rate it was worth while. disappointing in Myrtle Beach but I suppose these mid range course are everywhere. As I was on vacation. I take what I get. Save a buck play the luck.

Very rude staff
This is the second time i have played River Oaks Golf Plantation and I must say, my second visit was not as pleasant as my first. For one, the fairways had no grass on them what so ever. I understand it is just the beginning of golf season but for the regular everyday price to be around $75 you would think they could have nice green grass on it in March. Secondly, the cart boy (he was actually in his 40's) was super rude. They need to pay him more to get his moral up because he was ill as a snake. I would have been fine with the bad fairways and opted to play their again but after dealing with the cart boy I can't guarantee that I will be back.

This is a good course for the money.
The course had not been over-seeded so the conditions were average dormant Bermuda with almost no grass to hit from. However the greens were true and fast and made the round enjoyable. We played the Bear and the Otter and found the Bear to be the more enjoyable of the 2. The staff was courteous and helpful. This may not be one of the premier courses but it is worth the Golf Now fees and the trip out to the area. I know this course will be well played by folks that enjoy golf without breaking the bank.

Nice layout but no turf to hit off of!
Found this course online and maybe later in the year when the grass isn't dormant it would be pretty but in mid-March it was so brown it was hard to find your ball, even in the fairway. No grass to pinch the ball off of, just dirt and dead grass. Layout of holes on Otter and Fox courses was nice but couldn't enjoy it because of the lack of turf.

The course is in need of some water to get the greens back into shape. It is usually quite lush but it was very brown yesterday.

Standing water everywhere
The course was extremely wet the day we played. We were of course restricted to cart path only to be expected. Pace of play was slow and no sign of a ranger to move anyone along. We have played this course several times and like it. Fairly wide open and forgiving on off center shots. Nice greens but very slow this time of year (February). Bunkers were unplayable due to standing water. Most fairways also had standing water and it would have probably been wiser to close the course for the day and let it dry out.

Great value, played in january on a 60 degree day. Course was somewhat busy but had a steady flow. Quit after 9 holes because of impending weather but got a rain check with no problems. Staff was very friendly. Course was in great shape for January. Highly recommended!

Challenging, yet fair golf course.
We made our reservation via GolfNow less than 2 hoours before our tee time. When we got to the golf course they were ready for us! Great service from the proshop and starter.

Greens are in great shape, and fast. Well bunkered, water in play on approx 8 holes.
Not up to par with some of the other courses in the area, but the layout is good and provides a challenging round for the average golfer. You have to use most of the clubs in the bag, and placement of shot is more important than distance. Could pay better attention to the leaves on the course, expecially around the green.

This course offers great layout. Generous and well defined fairways. However, the course conditions were terrible. From the fairways to the greens, we did not enjoy good playing conditions. They were actually the worse we have encountered in our stay in Myrtle Beach. This is unfortunate, as its layout is one of the best.

This course has 3 - 9 hole layouts, all unique from each other
This was an excellent play, I play to a 16 hdcp and found it plenty challenging. Very good value for your money ! Would definitly put it on my play list the next time Im up there.

Great Value !!!
This course was in good shape for this time of the year and was a fair but challenging layout with some really great holes.
They have 27 holes and we played the Fox and the Bear nines and really enjoyed it.

with 3 different 9 hole courses it's always a challenge
We've played River Oaks a few times and always enjoy the experience. Courses are in good shape and offer a nice variety. Sand traps were a bit hard (could have been because of recent weather). Look forward to playing here again when we're in town.

Course in fantasic shape.
I play alot of golf and the course was in fantastic shape. We had no complaints about anything. A very enjoyable day at a great course. Its hard to beleive we got to play at a course that great at the price we paid.

Some challenging water hazards.
Greens require accuracy as they are quite small. Several holes have water hazards along the fairways. Very few required forced carries although some may challenge you to cut the hole short over the water.
Fun and great value for the money.
