Blackmoor, Gary Player’s only Grand Strand signature course, is built on the historic Longwood Plantation, which parallels the Waccamaw River. This spectacular undulating design takes advantage of the natural terrain and beautiful vistas making it a most enjoyable place to play. As the world’s most traveled golfer, Player was able to use his wisdom and talent to provide a challenging course for the most capable golfer. Yet, the clever layout provides the high handicapper a very fun round. When you couple the charm of this course with its truly hospitable staff and inviting facilities, Blackmoor becomes a “must-play” year after year. Rated 3 out of 5 by A quirky course. I found the course to be in good shape. The tee boxes, fairways and greens both in good condition. No problem with pace of play either. However there are quite a few holes that you have to keep the driver in the bag. I suppose Gary didn't have much room to work with so he had to make a lot of doglegs making shot placement a premium. If you like a course that's on the short side, this will do. I found the price to be very reasonable also. Would this be a course that I would bring the fellas to? In a pinch, yes. November 5, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Blackmoor is OK, but not outstanding Played this course after 4+ inches of rain two days before. It was still very, very soggy (clay base). Greens were very good, true and good speed. For a senior like myself, it just played too long and it was so darned hot I could barely get through the round (cart path only). September 4, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Winter golf Played for the first time. Course was in great shape. However I want a fan of all the doglegs. Course wasn't too challenging and is fairly short. Greens were in great shape and we're receptive to all different shots. I expected a little more from a Gary player course . April 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Black or is the bomb! Really enjoyed this Gary Player course. The staff were super and were part of a great experience. Course was challenging and really made you think about course management. Can't wait to return to Myrtle Beach so we can play Blackmoor again...and again... December 1, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Enjoyable afternoon! Accomodating and attentive staff, challenging layout and good pricing made for a very enjoyable round of golf. Tee blocks accomodate a wide variety of skill levels - course was challenging but not too tough which was good. August 27, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Course I was worried about the state of this course after the amount of rain that Myrtle Beach had received the week I stated there...However, the course was in good condition and the standing water was almost none existent. The course was in good condition some of the bunkers were in need of raking and the greens were a bit slow but all and all it was a challenging layout. One thing to note about this course is it is not a typical Myrtle Beach course that requires length and accuracy, Blackmoor is geared toward accuracy and distance control with tight doglegs and blind approaches. Rated 4 out of 5 by Should be on everyone's Myrtle Beach itinerary This course should be on your trip list when you're heading to Myrtle Beach. It is a top ten in the area and a top three on the southern part of the strand. The layout is fantastic and it is in great condition. Tees and greens are some of the best you'll find. Make sure Blackmoor is on your list along with Tidewater and the TPC May 9, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Too many doglegs! Wet conditions and too many doglegs of the same length kept this course from being top notch. A 25 min wait at the turn due to double teeing was also disappointing. January 31, 2014
