Great Course! Well worth the short drive. Lived in Charlotte area for 5+ years and never made the drive because I thought it was too far according to mapquest. Decided to try it and only took about 35-40 min. Staff was friendly and range balls are included with the round. Great course with really nice greens and great tee shots! Tree lined fairways that will punish if you're off and reward if you're on. I usually don't like golfing on Saturday but enyoyed it so much I've played the last three weekends there and always finish around 3 1/2 hours. Even including the drive I spend less time than I do at Charlotte courses on the weekend. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars for me was there was some areas of the fairways that had some funky weeds - not that big a deal though. October 31, 2012
The course is well designed. Since we are still playing winter golf, the fairways were hardpack which made it difficult. The greens had recently been punched but were in very good shape. You need to play this course more than once ot understand all the slopes and how to play them. Overall, a great course and would highly recommend it. April 4, 2013
Lots of slopes; fast greens Slopes on all holes in any direction; interesting to play;ball must be played strategically; greens undulated and fast April 4, 2013
Peaceful wooded setting. Long drive from Charlotte. Nice layout. From Charlotte, be prepared to drive for at least an hour to this course. You may think you are lost.....just keep going. You will know you are near when you see the black three rail fence on your right. The clubhouse is a large cape style structure, and sits to the left of the dead end road coming into the course. The course itself wasn't in very good condition, although very few courses are right now due to the dormant grass(3/26). Bunkers were well kept, with a loose layer of wet sand over the harder packed in stuff. The greens were pretty slick, but rolled well and were consistent. Played from the gold tees and 6500 yds. The course plays pretty long from the golds, with prevailing winds. The environment is outstanding with natural wooded views on every hole. That atmosphere is this course's best feature. The planned development has not yet sprouted. Would definitely return to play here again, but in the late spring or summer when the grass has filled in. I suspect whenever you come, you will have the place pretty much to yourself, which is also nice. March 28, 2013
excellent layout with elevation changes and water greens were just aerated so a little rough. Rest of course in great condition. Pace of play was great. Pretty much had course to myself. Bit of a drive but worth it. March 21, 2013
Top-Notch course for the price Recently took the drive from Charlotte down to Edgewater, first and foremost the staff was one of the friendliest I've ever encountered. Very informative and very helpful for navigating you around. I booked my round for $15 midweek and it was the nicest course I've ever played. Course plays fairly long at times but it gives you a chance to work on those long 2nd shots. The greens and fairways were maintained nicely. The neighborhood and course are still in development so it had very peaceful surroundings. I would recommend this course to anyone and I definitely plan to play there again! March 21, 2013
For beginners to pros this is an excellent golf course which provides something for everyone. This course is one of my golfing group's favorites in the area. February 23, 2013
Thank You Golf Now I am a member of a local amatuer golf tour and we are suppose to get discount rates. Our foursome was wanting to play a practice round before our upcoming tournament. However Edgewater wanted to charge us $49 to play. We canceled our tee times. Thanks to GolfNow we found tee times at almost the same time for $30. We played our round and enjoyed our discounted rates. Course is in winter condition but greeens are always good. I used to play here a lot but no longer unless I get GolfNow discount rates. For this time of year. Played this course for the first time ever. Joined a 3rd person (Walker), named Rich. He was great at giving me advice on how to play the course. There are some tricky holes for a first time player. Overall i realy played this course because it was cheap and at this time of the year no course is in great condition. I really liked this and will be back when the grass is green. February 11, 2013
Great place The greens were fantastic. I really enjoyed the course. I liked the elevation. I would like to play there when the grass is not dormant. great value!! I cant get the slide thing to work right, not to difficult February 7, 2013
Beautiful rolling hills Great place to play. I had a wonderful day. I would suggest everyone playing this course. It is a superb deal. February 2, 2013
LOVE THE FREE RANGE BALLS it is a great course.have played it many times. have payed as low as 16 dollars for a round. that is for a 55 dollar course. amazing January 31, 2013
The course has a great layout. The course is of moderate difficulty. Course conditions are great given the time of year. January 23, 2013
A Must Play Course If you are in the Charlotte area you must play this course. It is about 40 minutes south of Ballantyne but well worth the trip. Great value, friendly staff, and the course was in AMAZING SHAPE ON JANUARY 21ST!!! THE GREENS PERFECT. Don't let the drive put you off. Better than any Carolina Trail course. This was my second time playing (played in July with clients and it was great). I highly recomend. January 22, 2013
Great course, especially for the money. Great course, take advantage of a resort style course before the development coummunity takes off!! January 21, 2013
A great piece of land Edgewater is a very player friendly golf course on a great piece of land. It understandable that Fuzzy is not going to build a course that beats a golfer down. Instead, he offers a nice gentle flowing course through wonderful SC pine trees. There are not a lot of difficult shots, forced carries, or crossing hazards to bother the mid to high handicappers. Most of the trouble is off to the side. The challenge for the low handicapper is it can get a little narrow from the back tees. If you miss the fairway you end up in pine tree jail where sometimes the best option is a drop next to one of the generously placed red stakes back in the rough. The greens are in very good condition and provide a very true roll. They have subtle undulations and no tricks. Putts can be made here if you are in the groove. Most of the tee boxes are raised and in good condition. The bermuda was dormant when we played so lies in the fairway were a little thin and the rough was down. The bunkers were in good shape and not too difficult. And even though this time of year a course can get sloppy, there were very few wet spots. The coolers every four holes with complimentary bottled water is a touch of class. The holes were a mix from very short and easy to very long. I wish there would have been at least one short par 3 to balance out the 240 yarder. Holes 1-16 were very good, number 17 was a strange par 5 that does not fit in, and number 18 is a great finishing hole that looks like it has been there forever. What looks like a temporary clubhouse has a snack bar and a small pro shop with a few dozen balls and a couple of shirts. There is not really a 19th hole so tailgating is probably your best option for post round festivities. January 9, 2013
Great Course at a better price Edgewater has quickly become one of my favorite courses to play, even though it is a bit of a drive from Charlotte. January 7, 2013
The course is well worth the drive. Best greens I have seen The course is worth the drive. The best greens ive seen all year. The course flows very well and has flowing terrain with a nature setting. The homes in the neighborhood have never been built so it is quiet and peacefull out there and not over crwoded. Long par 3s are a challenge and there are alot of risks off the tee if you dont drive the ball far enough. December 17, 2012
Could play course regularly. The layout ischallenging but fair. There are no tricks; it is all in front of you. The greens have very subtle breaks, making even short putts move. I would play here at least once a week if it was 30 minutes or less from my house, but the distance and driving conditions limit me to twice a year. December 10, 2012
Quick round on great greens The threat of rain must have kept many home. We had the course almost to ourselves. The greens were quick and true. The course was in excellent condition. The Golf Now hot deal was too good to pass up. And the rain ? Maybe 5 minutes. What a bargain on a fun course. The abundant turkeys didn't seem to mind. December 6, 2012
Beautiful ... but bring plenty of golf balls Edgewater is far enough away from Charlotte to make it fairly lightly played but close enough -- a little less than an hour south of Ballantyne -- to make it worth the trip. Pick up some cheap S.C. gas on the way home! It's in a relatively new housing complex that hasn't really taken off yet but one of the nice things about the course is that houses aren't all around it. Each and every hole is framed by trees, mostly tall pines. It has a Pinehurstish feel to it ... at a fraction of the price. The course is pretty short but it makes up for this by being quite tight. It is easy to lose golf balls. My first hole on my last trip was fairly typical of what can happen. No. 1 plays at about 300 yards from the blues. I hit my first shot just far enough right to lose the ball. I reloaded, hit a beauty and ended up on the fringe. The folks there are very nice, the course is in above-average shape and they even include unlimited time on the range before the round. December 4, 2012
Great condition staff is great. I have played this course several times its in great condition and has always been that way each time I've played. Even at full price it's still worth the play. December 1, 2012
Best Greens in the area. Love this course not crowded and very friendly staff. Smooth greens. November 21, 2012
Great course for the money Great layout. Good shape. Greens roll well as usual. November 12, 2012
Good value with the GolfNow discount This course was well off the beaten path and somewhat more challenging than I was accustomed too. There are lots of bunkers to contend with so sharpen your sand wedge. The bunker sand was well maintained so getting out was no all that difficult, just annoying. The greens and tee boxes were some of the best I have seen in the area. One of the things I am not used too is the length of the par 3's. Most were over 200 yds. Take advantage of the complimentary range balls. I will definitely play here again. November 8, 2012
Huge bang for your buck. Far and away the best course around at a reasonable price. It's never packed so you're never rushed by those behind you or frustrated by groups ahead. Course is in excellent conditions and with the golfnow deals, the price can't be beat. If you can justify the drive out there (it's WAY out there) it's amazing. October 31, 2012
Fun Course, Great Value We were first out as a twosome and played quickly on a fair but challenging course. Keep the ball in front of you and you've got a chance. Spray it left or right and you're in the woods. Greens were best of the courses I have played in this region. Fairways were a little rough, but very playable. A little out of the way, but definately worth the drive. We played 36 and had a great time. Staff was helpful and friendly. I hope more people discover this place so they can get the area around it developed. October 24, 2012
