The only Jack Nicklaus designed golf course on the island!

One of America's Top 100 Courses Under $100

Recognized as one of “America's Top 100 Courses Priced Under $100” for 2002 by Travel and Leisure magazine, this Nicklaus-designed public golf course has quickly earned a name for itself as one of the top-rated layouts on an island of top-flight designs. Ever-present water and sand keep play interesting, but never penalizing. Golfers will find the course puts a premium on strategy and finesse, rather than sheer power. Winding through a beautiful landscape of oak and pine woodlands, the Golden Bear is a fitting complement to the prestigious residential community of Indigo Run.

Rated 4 out of 5 by A water dream or nightmare The course winds around the low country's finest neighborhoods, waterways and wildlife. A great way to spend a weekday afternoon in Novembet ! November 24, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by A Tough Go Fairways narrow which results in trouble. Large greens. Plays favorable for women. Not an easy course, but enjoyable. November 18, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by We had fun Course had recently been over seeded for winter but still played pretty well. Greens rolled nicely. Little course knowledge would have been helpful on a few holes but most good courses are that way. Overall my wife and I had a great time. November 17, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great place for all levels We had an excellent time at the Golden Bear. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Entire course was in great shape. My wife and I enjoyed playing this course. Thought the greens fees were high, but this is a resort course so it's expected. November 12, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Check conditions before you book I have played this course 3 times previously and was never dissatisfied, but this time was different. The club has over-seeded the entire golf course with winter rye and it should not even be open to play right now, let alone charging the prices they are charging to play. It is cart path only, the fairway grass is 3 inches tall since the new growth is too young to cut, and the greens are very bumpy and slow. You hit a drive into the middle of the fairway and it disappears into the grass. Be prepared to lose a lot of balls if you play here. I would suggest going elsewhere until this course has a little time to come back up to condition. We actually only played 1-1/2 holes before having enough of this and leaving to go play elsewhere. The pro was gracious enough to give us a full refund. November 8, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Disappointed after reading prior reviews Unfortunately the course had been over seeded and the fairways were not cut. Finding your ball in the fairway became a issue on many holes which combined with cart path only made for a slow round. There was no warning posted on the course web site allow a determination not to play the course in that condition. Much of the sand in the bunkers was washed away and had not been replaced. The greens were also very slow and bumpy November 8, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Greens were terrible and slow The course was over-seeded recently and I knew that. Unfortunately no mowing was done to the course or the greens so there was fine grass growing everywhere EVEN ON THE GREENS. Some of the fine grass on the greens was over a 1/2 inch high so they was EXTREMELY slow. Over-seeding is one thing but there is no excuse for not mowing the greens or at least rolling them. Rated 4 out of 5 by Good under the conditions Enjoyed playing here despite recent heavy rains, CPO for over seeding and recent aerification of the greens. November 5, 2015
