The only Jack Nicklaus designed golf course on the island!

One of America's Top 100 Courses Under $100

Recognized as one of “America's Top 100 Courses Priced Under $100” for 2002 by Travel and Leisure magazine, this Nicklaus-designed public golf course has quickly earned a name for itself as one of the top-rated layouts on an island of top-flight designs. Ever-present water and sand keep play interesting, but never penalizing. Golfers will find the course puts a premium on strategy and finesse, rather than sheer power. Winding through a beautiful landscape of oak and pine woodlands, the Golden Bear is a fitting complement to the prestigious residential community of Indigo Run.

Excellent course The course is challenging and projects a nice and relaxing atmosphere March 17, 2015
Back 9 tighter and longer Course in great shape for the amount of traffic it gets . Bunkers are well placed to protect many greens . the 400 + yard holes are more approachable . Par 5s are shorter so the low handicapper has a great opportunity to make a few birdies . Greens were slow . Lady friendly course. March 14, 2015
Improving We really like this course but haven't played in a few years due to poor conditions in the winter season. However we played recently and the conditions were much improved. We'll be back soon. March 14, 2015
Tips for Jack - add more sand to the bunkers. We were a party of six and were pleased that the course allowed us to go out as a foursome and a twosome. Greatly appreciated accommodating our request. Greens appeared to be in good condition. A bit early in the season to really rate the course fairly. March 13, 2015
For residents and tourism: not challnging Similar greens from hole to hole sloping back to front. Winter fairways. Some slooping fairways adding some difficulty. Poor par 3. Good value however: 40,00$/player. We will not return. No 18 is a very good hole. March 13, 2015
A Nice Course Great deal, $27 twilight on GolfNow including cart. Hard to beat that price on Hilton Head in March unless you go off island. Fairways were patchy and not up to the standards of other courses in the area, but greens were very good. Rough was typical for this time of year - dormant and very thin. Overall a decent layout, some doglegs, strategically placed ponds and bunkers all cut through tall pines. Played the golds which made some of the holes a bit short for me (I usually like about 6,500 yards), but it was still challenging. Teed off at 3:45 and my wife and I played 18 holes in a pleasant 3 hours, even though we had to wait on several holes on the front nine (to be expected since we were only a twosome). This was my second time playing here and for that price, I'll play again. March 13, 2015
Good condition, interesting course. Made very welcome from the bag drop right through to when our clubs were put back in the car. 4h 30m to play. Several marshals on the course but there was not much they could do, it was just full. Summer grass was just beginning to grow so the fairways were a bit patchy, but perfectly playable. Interesting course with lots of doglegs, well placed sand traps and ponds. All surrounded by tall mature pines. As first time players we were told to play the white tees, this resulted in several silly short holes - we moved back to the golds and it was much more satisfying / challenging. March 11, 2015
nice course, nothing special ..................... this is a nice course, but it is nothing special. We would choose to golf at another course the ne t time. March 10, 2015
