A great value for the money. Our round was completed in just over 4 hours which I want as a benchmark at all courses. The course was well maintained, tee boxes, fairways, bunkers. Greens were in great shape and rolling very well. For the area, it is probably the best value for the money! Staff is very friendly and they strive to see that you enjoyed your time. When we finished playing each employee that I spoke with asked us how our round went and also explained the lengths that they went through to ensure we had a nice time and played on a well kept course. I plan to play there more in the future and will recommend to others! October 20, 2012
good value for a very open course The course in early April was very thin. I liked the very open format with most fairways wide open. This may change when houses are eventually built along the course. Course was a good value at the price and conditions. I would play it again. April 8, 2013
Great value for money. Open, very forgiving course. Excellent greens, very fast. Will play there again. April 4, 2013
Long and Challenging Fun course, wide open off the tee. Very long with good greens, they tee you off 10 to save 20 minutes. Course is in the middle of nowhere. The club house is a trailer, but the sandwiches are great. April 4, 2013
course needs some work fairways dry and grass all brown needs fertilized or more irrigation to fairways April 4, 2013
The course was fun to play. Fun course to play. Wide fairways, multiple traps, some water but not always in play. Not overly difficult so my wife could enjoy but challenging enough for me to enjoy as well. We only played the front nine so no comment on back 9. Greens were in good shape. Not a lot of undulation, good speed, putted true. Would play again. April 3, 2013
Level terrain; numerous water hazards; very fast greens Course design is conventional on level terrain; numerous water hazards come into play; greens are very fast and smoth. March 30, 2013
Still winter conditions Even though this is late March, course is still in winter condition. Needs water and over-seeding. Nonetheless, worth a visit as we were able to book 18 holes for $15 each including cart! Staff was very friendly and let us get off as a 2some. Off island near I-95, but worth a look. March 27, 2013
Excellent golf course. Excellent well maintained golf course. Tees to suit for every golfer. Fast greens. A very enjoyable round of golf. March 27, 2013
Not so great fairways in March. Greens good though We played around March 16. Most courses in this area overseed the fairways with Rye, however, this course did not. The fairway lies were very thin and made play more difficult. The greens were very good and rolled true. May be much better in Late April or so when the Bermuda grass come back. We got a special pay in advance greens fee of $20, so I graded value as excellent. March 24, 2013
Greens were OK , Fairways terrible Fairways were like hitting off dirt, think they should have been overseeded March 19, 2013
This course has a nice layout with fast greens Really like this course for it's fast greens that putted true. Will play again on a drier day as they had 2 holes under water & cart paths only. So, if you plan to play make sure it has been not raining for a week at least. Course is wide open & had a lot of lakes that I don't think was suppose to be there ( like in middle of the fairway). Still really enjoyed the course. March 3, 2013
Very user friendly, great greens, and a great value. The tees range from 7,300 to 5,600 yards giving all golfers an adequate challenge. The greens were the best we played. Although the fairways were not over-seeded for winter the dormant grass was in very good shape giving a good lie for most shots. All in all, it was a great value. February 22, 2013
Wide open play, greens are fine The good: Staff was nice and you should be able get a good deal here. The greens are in fine shape and rolled very true. Overall, the course was fine and is very playable. The not so good: Fairways have not been over seeded for the Winter. Due to the development going into Chapter 11 a while back, there are very few homes developed and the place feels barren. Temporary clubhouse, but it was equipped well enough for a quick round. Few trees; if you're tired of losing balls in the low country trees, bushes and plants, you won't have that problem here. However, the course lacks character because of this. The ugly Due to recent rains, most bunkers lacked sand. Several of them were muddy and hard to play out of. I would recommend this course if you 1) don't want to travel into Hilton Head Island 2) you can get a great deal ($25 for 18) and 3) aren't after a typical, pretty low country course. February 20, 2013
Nice course. The coursenew has a nice layout. Not too difficult, but fun for my wife. Absolutely cannot beat the price with such a short drive. We will be back. February 15, 2013
Great Greens The greens at Hilton HEad Lakes are always fast and challenging. The overall course condition is very good. They did not over seed the fairways but they are still in good shape. We played two days after a four inch rain and the course had drained well. They have flipped the nines and are starting groups on ten first. I prefer to play it the way it was designed. The original front is harder, but I still enjoying playing it first. February 12, 2013
The greens were great, rolled true and were the best part of the round The course had a great layout, and the greens were in the best condition of any I have played in the area. Fairways had ample room Although they did not overseed this year, the fairways were defined and the ball was easy to hit from them. I will play this one again. February 6, 2013
Fast Greens, great condition Senior friendly course. Challenging from all tees, Seniors get a nice break. Very windy day, still had a good round. February 2, 2013
Wide and forgiving fairway. The fairways are wide and therefore forgiving. Good course to play for average player. February 1, 2013
The course has some interesting holes and good variety. It is a fairly forgiving course with wide fairways. The greens were in excellent shape in January. they were very consistent and fast despite the time of the year. January 23, 2013
Wide fairways & fast greens This course has a lot of wide open fairways, which are not too difficult except when it's windy. The greens are fairly fast with not a lot of undulation. January 22, 2013
Wide Open and Big you can let it fly... This is a very nice course that all levels can play on and have fun playing. If you want to check your driving distance this is the course for you. There really isn't alot of trouble on this course. January 19, 2013
Why not green fairways? Coming out from HHI, it takes about 45 minutes to get to the course and then it isn't easy to find. The tees are kinda green, fairways and rough brown and greens are ... well green. They were fast but held your shot. It's pretty wide open, but traps can definitely come into play, especially near the greens. The price was fine, it's just a long way to drive. I don't think I'll return. January 15, 2013
Great staff, great layout, always in great condition. This course seems to be a well kept secret in the Hilton Head area. It is just 30 minutes off the Island but it seems to be underused. We have lot's of family and friends visit us every year and they always make Hilton Head Lakes a part of the experience. This is a fun and semi forgiving track from the white tees but you will get all the challenge you could want as you move to any of the back tees. My suggestion would be, when all the tourists fight for a crowded round on or just off the Island, try playing this Gem approx 30 minutes away. January 14, 2013
Long and wide Long wide fairways. Not a lot of obsticles but some challenging greens. Some swamps and ponds but very few trees. January 8, 2013
Beautiful and Private Greens rolled true and fast. Extremely challenging when played from the blue tees and fun when played from the whites. Love the privacy of this course. I really enjoy playing this course. December 23, 2012
Love the openess of the course I love this golf course, every time we visit Savannah, we take a trip to Hilton Head just to play Hilton Head Lakes. The course is wide open and adaptable to any ones stroke of play. The staff is always courteous and helpful. As soon as you arrive in the parking lot the bag boy is there to put your bags on the cart, and take the clubs off when you are finished. December 11, 2012
The best golf course for the averge golfer! This course is always in great shape. Great greens and tee boxes appear to never be in bad shape. I love the diffence in tee box distance you can really make it challenging just by moving back a tee box. I love putting on these greens it seems like you never make the same putt. The design of them really make putting fun. Staff is always there for you and for anything. The best staff on a public course I've played on. December 11, 2012
Might just be the best course for the dollar in the area. Greens and tee boxes in excellent condition. The concrete cart paths are a pleasure. Reminds me of the courses found in Florida. It is a course I could play every week and not get tired of it. December 7, 2012
Wide open let it fly Great course to hit the ball hard and let it fly. Very few trees to get in the way. The greens were fairly fast and ran smoothly. November 28, 2012
