Nice track...friendly staff
As they say timing is everything. Unforturnately, the day we played they were over-seeding so we had to play cart path only and the greens were not maintained as expected. Knowing though from others that this is not the norm, I still would recommend this course due to its design and challenge that it presents. It has been a long term favorite for many in the low country(Bluffton/HH Island). Nice clubhouse and range with a restaurant that was well in use when we arrived. Looking forward to playing there again.

Great views of the marsh and water...
Other than very slow greens no complaints.
Last 3 holes on each side are places for pictures.

Good Golf at a Great Value
As a visitor to HHI, I would recommend this course. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. The course gets and keeps your attention. You can play from off the fairway on most holes, but accuracy is rewarded. The overseeded rye greens are sticky and a bit on the slow side but roll true. I would like to see how they putt during summer.
I was out early in a threesome and finished in 3:15 and took advantage of the replay rate of $35 with a $10 lunch voucher. The afternoon round took about 4:20 and that was with waiting on several holes.
With the Hot Deal and replay rates, I paid less for 36 holes at Old South than I would have for one round on the island. I look forward to coming back!

Low country golf at its finest
Friendly staff and beautiful course. Only 4 holes where you can see houses. The rest is a beautiful low country backdrop. I used every club in my bag. A must play when in the HHI area.

better than harbour town!
easily the best of the 4 hilton head courses I played in a week long trip (including harbour town). The course was very well laid out with frequent changes in direction and no trick/ blind shots off the blue tees.
every hole was a challenge in its own right but the 5/6 holes which border the marshlands were superb.

Interesting / nice mix.
Good shape / great value. Didn't have a round booked for our last day; so we played it again. Yummy pulled pork !

nice mix from hole to hole
Very nice course and staff. I liked the fact that several holes required the proper placement of the first shot, made you think. Look forward to coming to HHI and playing it again. The pros, started and ranger were helpful and friendly.

Great low country environment.
This course was in as good a shape as the nicer ones I played on Hilton Head Island. It features unique holes that are a challenge and scenery that is definitely low country. Water hazards are on many holes with the marsh, swamp and pond areas. Alligators are apparent, but not close enough to harm you.

Old South has never disapointed me
It was a tough winter in HHI, but Old South was in great shape. I played other courses during my stay, and Old South was the best. So I played it twice that week. Found the staff as friendly as ever.
I'll be back in 2014.

There are a couple of holes that are tricked out, but otherwise a very fair course with some outstanding views. I would play it again.
We played the course in less than favorable conditions with rain and wind. It was a very fair course. There are a couple of holes that are tricked out, but otherwise wide fairways and reasonable distances from the middle tees. I would play the course again when in the area.

Challenging layout, good conditions
Even in winter conditions, after a LOT of rain, this course was in great shape. Tough layout with a few blind shots and tricky fairways and greens. This course gets plenty of well deserved compliments.

Love the layout and mix of holes
Course was great but the proshop let out a fivesome in front of us which I didnt appreciate.
There is no reason for this and they would not allow everyone that requested to go out as a fivesome to do so.
Therefore they should not allow anyone to do that.
Even the Marshall had problems with it as he cannot do his job.

Tough course with a lot of water
We got there 1/2 hour before our tee time and there was a one hour delay, which meant very very slow play over 5 hour round. This course is tough and a LOT of water everywhere. if you are not great at target golf, pass on this course or you will go through a lot of balls and get frustrated.

very good golf course and friendly staff
Booked this online and it was Avery good value. The c o user was in great shape and the starter was very efficient and friendly,he explained the course layout,where restrooms were and so as o where drinking water was located. Overall a very nice place to play off of the island

Weather was poor...
We like to play Old South every time we visit HH. It is a nice, playable course with eXcellent staff.
We played the first day and quit after 5 holes due to the cold and wind. Even though it WAS NOT raining, the pro shop gave 4 of us a 9 hole rain check...very nice.
We came back two days later and managed to get in 6 holes befor it started raining, and we gave up.

Absolutely Georgeous
This is the 5th course I have played while on vacation, and it is the best one yet. The setting beautiful, with holes along the marsh. The greens were in better condition than the other four courses. A beautiful, serene place to play. I want to play here again before I go home.
This one a must if you come to Hilton Head.
Take your camera with you if you play Old South.

Challenging, yet player friendly course.
This was my first time playing this course. The course was very well maintained for playing in mid February. It's features many water lined holes that require somewhate precise tee shot placement. I look forward to playing this course again on my next trip.

Good overall experience.
Enjoy playing this course. It is challenging, but fair, and have some really memorable holes. Generally the course conditions are quite good. The only thing I really don't like is having three holes that have a 90 degree dog-leg. I can live with one, but three gets a little goofy.

Great Greens very few ballmarks breaks half the expected
unfortunately the weather was not so pleasant. It was 45 derees then the wind kicked up making it about 30 degrees. then the rain came and at about the fifth hole it was not worth the effort.

Use every club in the bag.
I have played this course many times and it is always in great shape!! I wish the Greens were faster but that is the only thing I would say is lacking. One of the best features for me is the different choices off the Back Tee's I used 3 wood 3 or 4 times and 3 Hybrid a few times as well. You have plenty of opportunity to let it fly with the driver also. Very strong Par 5's and par 3's on this course and you have to think your way thru most of the par 4's!! I highly recommend playing this track!!

Challenging course, narrow fairways with troubles left and right
This was the most challenging of the 6 courses we played around Hilton Head Island. The challenges came due to the rather narrow fairways, tall trees, water, hazzards on every hole on both sides of the fairways. Not a good course for occasional golfers.
