Heritage Hills Golf Resort
Love this course. If it were closer I would buy a membership.

Great layout and in great shape.
Found the course in great shape and the layout is challenging with lots of elevation changes. Local knowledge is a plus, so hook up with someone who knows the course if possible.

Great course, poor pace of play
I loved the layout of the course. The greens were very quick with lots of movement. However there was one or two greens that were not in great condition. The only real concern I had was the pace of play. It should not take 6 hours to play a round of golf. A ranger accused my group of slowing play down when we waited on one par 3 for 30 minutes. They completely mismanage pace of play. If this can be fixed I'd say its the best course in the area. Until then it's just a top 5.

Excellent Service, but agonizingly slow on Sundays.
This is a very nice layout, easy to get to right off of 83, with excellent customer service and very good course conditions. A couple of 'too-long" par 3s, maybe, but features a nice mix of right-to-left and left-to-right holes, as well as straight-away holes and elevation changes. Water in play a good bit on several holes, as are strategically-placed sandtraps. Not simply a 'bombers' course, you'd do well to 'think' your way around this layout, shot placement is critical on some holes, and driver is NOT always the best choice from the tee. Some holes are downright TIGHT (esp #6). Houses line some fairways, with OB stakes lining many holes all the way down the left. Strong prevailing winds come into play on many holes, as well. 18 is just a beast, very long, with water along the left and surrounding the green. #9 isn't much better, at over 400 yards with water (and geese) all the way down the right side, and OB left. Don't be too proud to lay-up and play these like short Par 5s. Bogey 5 beats a double from the water.
One thing I loved about this course was the excellent cart-mounted large-touchscreen GPS system that guided you around the course, giving you a flyover of each hole as you pulled up to the tee box, and yardages to hazards and the front and back of every green. Kind of like having your own caddy for the round. Really makes a difference in enjoyment, although you'd THINK it would speed up play a bit.
Unfortunately, there were MAJOR backups on the Sunday I first played Heritage Hills. Like three groups deep on some tee boxes. Rangers were seen, but had seemingly no effect on pace of play.
The deck is a great place to relax after your round, overlooking the 18th green. The drinks aren't cheap, ($4.50 bottle of beer) but the food is quite good, and the service is fantastic, friendly and welcoming.
I couldn't justify paying "full-pop" for a round here, but GolfNow "Hot Deal" rates are a great value.

Best course in the York, PA area
Very challenging golf course with rolling terrain, streams and ponds. Though we were allowed to drive the cart on the course it had several areas of cart paths that were broken and washed out.

GREAT PRICE WITH GOLF NOW. COURSE IS ALWAYS IN GREAT CONDITION. WE HAD TWO FOURSOMES IN FRONT OF US THAT WERE REALLY SLOW, AND THAT CAUSED US TO SKIP A FEW HOLES. THAT IS THE FIRST TIME I EVER HAD A PROBLEM, BUT IT WAS AFTER A RAIN DELAY. WE WILL BE BACK SOON, GREAT COURSE FROM THE 1ST HOLE TO THE 19TH HOLE.
