If you can keep the ball relatively straight, the ample fairways and greens will guide to a fun day. Miss the short grasses, and the dense trees and lightning greens will eat you for lunch and have you back for dinner!

From a peaceful hike in our picturesque mountains on a beautiful spring day to the excitement of a summer arts festival . . . from the roaring crowds at a Penn State football game to the serenity of a cross-country ski outing…you'll find countless opportunities to have fun and relax, just moments from Toftrees. Here's a sampling of some of our favorite area attractions:
Penn State University (and the Nittany Lions) is 3 miles from Toftrees, and its flavor and excitement spills over into the surrounding community, making State College the quintessential college town, with a wonderful mix of sporting and cultural events, unique shops, exquisite restaurants, and more. On campus, regularly scheduled walking and bus tours take you to the university's many wonderful points of interest. The school's museums of art, anthropology and entomology all provide a fun-filled afternoon of education. Bowling and ice skating facilities are available on-campus, as is the Festival Theatre with regularly scheduled shows. Providing inspiring beauty, Penn State's Flower Gardens Tours feature six acres of land with over 700 varieties of flowers in all colors, shapes and fragrances.
Just a short drive away, you'll find several interesting sights and activities. Visitors love to browse the craft and antiques shops in Boalsburg. Also popular is an excursion into one of the area's Amish farms unchanged for nearly two centuries. Forested areas nearby teem with game and are a favorite destination for those seeking hunting and fishing adventures. The region's beautiful state parks and picnic areas are popular destinations for boating, swimming and hiking. In Stone Valley, you can rent a rowboat or canoe, explore the area's caves, or hike nature trails. Guided horseback riding is available on mountain trails throughout Nittany Valley's beautiful countryside, while wine connoisseurs will enjoy a tour of some of the local vineyards. In the winter, you'll find mountain and cross-country skiing in the area.
