Par 3 & 4 - reasonbly dry for the time of year Overall a great experience - the course was moderately busy but the pace was great. For the time of year the ground was in good condition. This time of year in this area there is a lot of "mush" and there were only a very few soft areas. I'd rate it above average for the area this time of year. It's a relatively easy course since it's pretty flat and it's just par 3s and 4s but there is a fair amount of sand and several areas to shoot over water. It's a great choice for those of us who don't regularly drive the ball 300+ yards and just want I nice place to play. March 16, 2013
Nice walking course to work on long par 3's The course has three executive 9's with 3 short par 4's and some lengthy par 3's making scoring interesting. The greens usually put well and the holes are close together making walking easy. It is not a first choice course with many other better options available in the area. February 28, 2013
Short Par 3's and 4's This course, for mid February, was well maintained and fun to play. It is not very challenging, but good for a brisk day in Feb. February 20, 2013
we like this course. It is short and always great greens medium hitters and up can leave the driver and three wood in the trunk. The bunkering is good and greens great. It is short and fairly tight to homes all around. bring bread to feed the birds and squirrels. February 16, 2013
Price was right. Greens were very good. Though it has been wet lately and fairways were soft, it was playable. November 28, 2012
Good value, good shape there are only par 3 and 4, but sometimes the tree line makes the course tight.... if you use appropriate course management, this course if fairly easy, if you try to use driver when you shouldn't, you will be playing out of the trees and it will be bogey or double bogey golf.... greens are in nice shape and it has some long par 3's November 8, 2012
Good course to practice short game. Soft fairway due to rain. Still playable, greens are now slower. November 1, 2012
pouring rain played last saturday, the rain never stopped. the greens remained dry the whole time, very impressive! really short, lots of par 3's October 31, 2012
Well-maintained, short but challenging Consisting of par 3's and 4's, Charbonneau is relatively short but with narrow fairways, bunkers and water on several holes it does present challenges for most golfers. Some of the par 3's are over 190 yards so are not "gimmes" by any stretch. The course (3 9-hole layouts) is always well-kept and the greens and fairways are better than some more upscale (and expensive) courses I've played. October 12, 2012
Great Training Course This set of 27 holes is the best in Portland for one particular feature: the length of its par 3's. You cannot par this course unless you can drop your tee shot onto 160, 190, and 210 yard holes several times each nine. There is maybe 1 pitching wedge hole per 9, but a lot more over 170. The greens are velour, but not super challenging. As a training course for distance and alignment, it is excellent. The par 4's are nice but the 3's will test your mettle. October 8, 2012
Good combination of Holes This course has a good mix of medium to short distance Par 4's that compliment the more difficult and longer Par 3 holes. A couple of the Par 3's can be reached with short irons, but the rest will take a long iron, or a Wood if you don't hit it very far. Fun Course. October 8, 2012
This course has reasonable features for an executive type course. Fun course to play. There was an airiation warning when we signed up to play, but the greens were generally OK. We were disappointed that we did not get the cart the Golf Now sign up feature said was included in the green fees. The folks playing with us were given a cart. When we asked, they said the particular green fees we paid did not include a cart. I did not have the paper work from our Golf Now sign up so I had no way to prove what we had purchased. Interesting in that the folks playing with us simply said that their sign up included a cart. They were taken at face value; we weren't. The lesson is always take along a copy of your online paperwork. I've never had this problem before but mostly play in AZ and haven't experienced anything like this... October 4, 2012
Decent Local Course Charbonneau is a 27 hole executive course in a retirement community. Two courses (nine holes) are set aside for those playing eighteen. The other course is for those only wishing to play nine holes. There is a grass tee driving range. The cost is reasonable, The course itself is well mainatained and that is done while you are playing, which can be very annoying. The staff is not totaly dismissive, but close. The water containers on course are always empty. The pace of play is great when you are alone or with another person. If you get behind some residents, "ready golf" is out the window. I probably won't be back. Mainly because there are so many other courses in the area where service counts and the customer and his money to golf are revered. October 4, 2012
This course is fun to play but deceptively challenging. A great course to improve your mid-range game. With numerous par 3's, a few over 200 yards, accuracy is a must. A couple of water holes require knowing your distance with clubs. October 4, 2012
Good place to practice the irons Greens are nice, and roll true. its a nice course to just bring the irons and work on your long and short irons. September 25, 2012
Greg from PIn High Golf, Vancouver Washington There are no par fives, but some of the par fours will make you play at your best as do some of the par threes. The course is like walking through someone's back yard with the proximity of the houses and landscape. It is beautifully done, immaculately maintained with a pleasant ambiance with houses that augment the scenery but yet do not restrict play in any way. I will return to this venue as will my playing partners. The cost is outstanding. September 25, 2012
