The course features five (5) holes carved in the woods, while the other thirteen (13) are out in the open. Ten lakes and a stream play both a tactical and aesthetic role in the design. Rated 2 out of 5 by What happened? This course has seen its fair share of ups and downs, but this is down again. I had hoped the change in management would bring the course back to what it was the first time I played it in 2010 but I can't say that it has. This used to be a challenging course but with what appears to be a true lack of care, it was far too forgiving for the layout. Grass is unevenly cut throughout the rough, fairways and greens. Greens are being abused and not repaired along with disease. Etiquette by the gentleman cutting the grass on 6 was absent. Not only did he not idle his engine as we were playing in the area he was cutting, but he didn't even bother to stop mowing. August 6, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Going way downhill We have played this course many times over the years and this time by far was the worst I've seen it. Fairways were burned out in multiple locations to the point it was hard cracked dirt in places. Rough around the greens and fairways was burned out and bare in many places. Most of the bunkers would be compared to little league infield dirt. Greens hand many pitch marks unfixed or dried out and not grown back in. Overall this course has gone way downhill from where I have seen it in previous years and they still feel they can charge a premium price. Will not be back unless significant changes are made by the ownership. August 3, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the challenge I love the difficulty / challenge of this layout. You need to bring your best game to score well at Grey Hawk. While the greens were very smooth and fast, they had a number of pit marks and burned out spots. Tees and fairways were excellent. Unfortunately, the bunkers were rock hard and very difficult to hit the appropriate shot from. July 23, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Nice course Bring your A game. Very challenging. Wind is in face almost every hole. June 13, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Bill Akron The course is one of the nicest in Lorain County. Unfortunately it was in poor condition the fairways had clumps of weeds, the bunkers were 80% dirt and 20% sand. The course was dried out and poorly maintained. We probably won't go back, Summit County has nice well maintained courses. Too bad Grey Hawk could be a premier course. June 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by In great shape The course has always had a great layout. Very challenging at times. Fairways and greens in good shape and Now they are starting to get the hunkers back into playable shape. May 29, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by end of season the course was in good shape for the time of year you can still see some of the dead spots from a couple of years ago the course was out of a couple of things such as diet sodas and beer varieties as they are winding down. November 12, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by excellent golf course for the price I have played Grey Hawk 5 times over the last two years. It takes close to an hour to get to the golf course, but the trip is well worth the time. Very few trees, huge greens, links-like feel. You can spray it a little off the tee, and areas near the green arent too challenging. When the wind is up, this course is brutal, with very little protection. Conditions are not as good as some top NE Ohio courses, but well above average. Greens are medium fast, which makes it a scorable golf course. November 11, 2014
