Rocky River Golf Club At Concord
An incredible course
I had been wanting to play Rocky River since I first moved to Charlotte but it took me some time to make it happen. But let me say it was well worth the wait. They have a sign outside the clubhouse acknowledging the course being one of only 6 daily fee courses on the top 100 courses in North Carolina and it is absolutely correct. The course is in phenomenal shape, with lush fairways and well maintained greens. There was some standing water in a few bunkers (maybe 4) but with rain having come through the day before, this can be forgiven. It is a fair course, not overly difficult but you will have the opportunity to use every club in your bag. Being one of the premier courses in Charlotte, expect a lot of people to be out there. The one thing that caught me off guard is the proximity to the raceway. Hole 2 runs directly parallel to the backside of the drag strip. We played at a time when some testing was being conducted, making our tee shots a little more interesting than most. All in all do yourself a favor and play Rocky River, you will not be disappointed.

Really Improved Course
I hadn't played Rocky River in 5 years or so and was amazed at the great shape it was in. Greens are great, teeboxes and fairways were really good, and pace of play was good. This is a challenging course - we played Green Tees (like Blues at most courses) and if I had stepped to the tips it would have been a lot of golf course. Good variety of holes that move both directions, require solid approach shots, but you get rewarded when you hit a good shot. Solid par 3's, good par 5's, and a nice mix of long and shorter par 4's. Highly recommend this course.
Price was $65 on a Saturday morning at 8AM which I thought was very reasonable for 18 w/ cart. The course is walkable and I believe it is allowed for members and non-members.
If you are in Charlotte area and are looking for a good public course I would highly suggest Rocky River.

Nice course for the money
Very nice course. Staff was friendly. I played as a single as was to be paired with another single and pair. They gave me my own cart and let me tee off early by myself. The fairways and greens were in real good shape. There was a few challenging holes, but most of the course was reasonably easy. I booked on golf now on one of their hot deals, so, I got a good experience for the money.

This course though difficult is overrated and excessively pricey for the quality... There are several holes with significantly overgrown hazards. greens were fast but well manicured.. There are other courses in the area which are less expensive and offer better quality golf.

Not Junior friendly, nice course.
Very disappointed with club policies on junior golfers. Rocky River is one of 3 courses in the area that I have encountered that are not junior friendly. My 4 year old daughter plays 3-4 holes over the entire round, from greenside. They wanted to charge her $16 for 9 holes to play, and/or just to ride and not play. I was told on the phone she could ride without having to pay, so they let that slide. This was the 2nd time we played, and the first time they had no problem with it (on a Saturday), so maybe they have some staff that realized being junior friendly will help everyone. I love the course, and it's in great shape, but won't be returning with my group.
