Dr. Charles L. Sifford's 9 hole golf course was founded in the early 1930`s Revolution Park Golf Course (originally named Bonnie Brae Golf Course) was designed by the Corps of Engineers as an 18 hole layout. The golf course was later condensed to 9 holes and modified once again in the late 1970`s as interstate I-77 was developed. Nestled in beautiful maples, pines, and hardwoods, Revolution Park GC has been donned "Charlotte`s only 9-hole Country Club"! The course averages nearly 32,000 rounds of public play per year and the layout is suitable for all types of players regardless of age, sex or handicap. Many local players call Revolution Park GC their "home course" and play on a regular basis.

Revolution Park Golf course has endured many changes through the years. In the beginning, African Americans were banned from playing the course. But, in the early 1950`s, legal action prompted Revolution Park GC (named The Bonnie Brae Golf Course at that time) to open play to all races. The 12 gentleman filing the suit, on behalf of all minorities, were granted the right to play Revolution Park in 1957 through a Supreme Court Ruling.

Revolution Park GC was later dedicated to 9 gentlemen, each of whom made significant impacts on the course over time. The 9 holes now commemorate each of these individuals and are marked with their names in granite. A sign on the first tee was constructed to honor the first African American to tee off after the legal judgment was handed down from the Supreme Court.

Great course for a quick round near downtown The views were wonderful. The greens had been topdressed but still nice. The fairways were nice as well. But the main thing, was the ease of playing 9 holes in way less than 2 hours on a workday during my lunch. That is more than enough to enjoy looking at the Charlotte Skyline on such a beautiful day..... November 15, 2013
Skip. It may be cheap but even so it's not worth it. Due to the attractive low-cost fees and the fact that it is a 9-hole course, I have played here 6 times at different times of the year. It has always been in mediocre shape. Drainage is poor and you will find standing water and mud throughout the course. The fairways were in decent shape once but weeds have been everywhere the other times. The greens have always been in poor shape with sand and dead grass covering most of the surface. Trash is common and the red-neck, beer-drinking crowd looking for a cheap round of golf can be an issue some days. So can be overcrowding. The course is cheap and it attracts a ton of players many of which are slow beginners. What should be a quick 9 holes can turn into a 3 1/2 hour round. The quality of the staff varies and I have dealt with both knowledgeable and friendly folks and others who are rude and absolutely clueless about golf. Even as a cheap alternative, this course is not worth the trouble. I will not play it again. October 4, 2013
Great and convenient...God value for the money I use this course to work on all aspects of my game. Great practice area to work on putting and short game. August 26, 2013
Fair challenge at a fair fare I've been playing this track regularly for 3 years and it is in the best overall condition right now. After the reasonably long par 4 1st hole, the scorecard yardages make the rest look easy. Don't be fooled. Each hole presents unique challenges for accurate distance and placement. Greens are 85% back, still some apron areas in need of work; but overall rolling very true. Fairways are consistently some of the best around. This course is a great challenge in a convenient location at a reasonable price. What else do you need? I wish it were 18 holes. August 22, 2013
You definitely get what you pay for Can"t say I've ever played a course before that doesn't label each hole. Luckily there. was someone in front. of me I could follow. Thanks but no thanks. July 25, 2013
GREAT DEAL!!!! This course has gone through a total overhaul from what it was. The fairway and tee box's are in perfect shape! The greens are hard and slick. For what it costs this may be the best deal in Charlotte. Fun track to play a quick 9. Plus....$1 beer on Saturdays...I'll see ya on the first tee! Happy to support a local city run club! Fairways are great but greens needs work. Need a change of staff. This course is a good place to work on your game, the fairways are better then most courses in Charlotte but the greens are among the worst one's I have played on. I tied of about 5 min before I started in a rush due to the fact they placed 3 kids behind us that had not tee time scheduled. Then the staff drove up to us on the first green and told us that we were 20 minutes late and should be happy to even be playing!, I later found our they had a small tournament scheduled that the same staff person was in. My suggestion to the course management is to really remind the staff of the customer service. I would normally recommend this course to someone that needs to work on their game but will not do so, what really upsets me is the fact that this is the place where the fist tee of Charlotte has their facility. Hole #6 I want to preface this review by saying that I am thoroughly impressed with the facelift that this course has had. They have obviously put a lot of time and money into making this 9 hole track into a hidden treasure in downtown Charlotte. I have a feeling that it will soon loose it's stigma of being a course in a dangerous part of town. Although, with that said...they must not allow a person to be peddling used golf balls on the 6th tee box. Not only is it a huge distraction to the average golfer. But, it is also a bother to have someone try to sell you something while you are on the golf course trying to enjoy your round. Golf is a luxury that not everyone gets to participate in. You should not have to deal with street peddlers on the course. Like I said before, I love this gem of a course. But, the guy on #6 has to go. April 12, 2013
