Worth the money, fantastic course
The course provided a good challenge for everyone in my group, and we had a fantastic time getting through it. The course design almost makes you feel isolated on each fairway, a feeling that I'd never experienced before - each hole felt like we were by ourselves even though there were a good amount of groups playing that day. The course was in great shape, hitting off the fairways was an absolute pleasure to hit from. If you're a mid-high handicapper, bring extra balls, they're really easy to lose in the tall grass that covers much of the rough and dunes.

Unique course for the area
Despite losing easily more balls on this course, than on any area other in recent memory, I had a great time playing the course and its varied holes. The fairways have a true links feel, while the surrounding hills have more of a southwest style. If I have one complaint, and it is nitpicking, it would be the lack of many risk vs. reward holes and doglegs. The course was very well maintained and certainly one I would recommend to others. Having played the vast majority of courses in the area, for my money, this is the best course in the area.

Excellent Links Style Course with very good course conditions for winter
As I played this course in January (it was 50 degrees though), the review is relative to conditions one would (from my experience) expect in the winter.
Twisted Dune is a true links style course that is scenic, challenging and enjoyable to play. It is a true "strategic" golf course as that it give you options to play each hole that make each safer or more risky to play.
For example, on many holes, if you take out the driver (and can hit it a reasonably long way) the fairways narrow at driver distances; they don't narrow to US Open width, but certainly make it more challenging.
Generally, the fairways and low rough are wide enough that if you miss both and end up in the links style high grass and either lose your ball or have difficulty getting out, you have hit it really wide and deserve whatever you get!
In true links style fashion, most greens have a sufficient opening to give you the option of running the ball onto the green (given that you have the correct angle of approach). Although, due to the wet winter conditions, that option was often not available as the ball was rolling very little.
Some holes can be shortened or you can go more directly at the pin by taking the riskier route which then includes a forced carry (water, ravine, bunker, sand dune etc). Thus the strategic nature of the course.
The greens and fairways were in very good condition for the winter - some of the best I have seen. While wet due to rain and such, you could still ride the cars on the fairways.
The fairways are often undulating, but not severely, so any side/down/up hill lies you get are reasonable and fair.
The only negative were some of the bunkers. Several had standing water, enough so that you couldn't play out of them. I even lost a ball in one because the entire bunker was full of water and the water was murky enough that I couldn't see it. While I don't expect fluffy sand in the winter - I am not sure why they couldn't do something about the excessive water in the bunkers.
Finally, got a great deal through Golfnow for $36, so at that price the only negative, the bunkers, are forgiven, and I am happy to say it's a great deal on one of best public/semi-private courses I have played in New Jersey ( particularly if you enjoy "links style” courses).

Beautiful and foreign appearing links course.
Challenging but fair course with rather wide open fairway, and relative small undulating greens. Must play course in Atlantic city area.

This is always a fun and challenging course to play.
I think this course is more difficult than the rating and slope indicate. The dunes give the course great character, and the holes are varied.
The course seems to be better maintained the last couple of times I played. The greens were not real fast but rolled true.

Great course and pace of play
Winter golf in South Jersey could not have been more fun. Greens a little slow was only drawback.

Excellent example of a links style course.
To expensive for me during peak season $80. Off season rates are within my budget $40. Course is still maintained in good condition. Last played 12/3/12 course was as good as during the summer.

SOULD BE TWISTED DUNES
The dunes are so numerous you are sure you are on a different planet. One par 3 is nothing but dunes and bunkers and s one of the most intmadating tee shots you could have. Nice practice facility and many fun holes.

Nice Layout, Just Slow
Great layout and in great shape. Only problem was we played cart path only as it had rained recently, and as such it was a bit of a death march around 5:30.

Nice course friendly staff
Great course, if you are not straight off the tee it can lead to a long day, very nice greens fast and also make you think as well. Great place to find golf balls as well. Would definitely play again and actually can't wait to

WILL NOT GO BACK!
This is the second time I played this course and I am never going back. The first time I went was in July 2011. The staff was rude and the course was packed. So packed that in 5.5 hours I was only able to complete 14 holes. This time I had a 1:45 tee time that was pushed back to 2:25. When my foursome got to the first hole there were 4 people on the green and 12 others waiting to tee off on hole #1. In order to get 18 holes in, my foursome decided to play the front 9 twice which we barely finished after nearly 5 hours. So in summary, I have played this course two times and I have yet to play holes 15 - 18. However, I have played hole #1 three times which is no consolation prize. Save your money and go somewhere else if you are in the Atlantic City area.

great golf course
Friendly staff, great value course and conditions, natural course design, everything was great, except bunker has too many tiny stones.

the best newer course at the shore
I've been a big fan of Twisted Dune since it opened years ago. If you like a big brawny course filled with heroic shot options, then come here to play.. You can really enjoy this course no matter what tee box you play from.. The 4th hole.. a long winding uphill par 5, is a delight to the eyes and a great challenge. The 16th hole , a par 3 that looks like you are on the moon with craters everywhere is a sensational hole.. The 18th hole is a long and terrific finisher. What also is nice, is that there are no homes on the grounds.. just great golf..

Can't wait to play Twisted Dune again !
Course has a great layout ! Very nice fairways and very very fast greens. Only thing the course needs is actual sand in the sand traps. Other than that Twisted Dune is a must play.

Awesome Course
Pristine and I thought a little tougher than the 122 slope... it was windy the day I played and that made it a bit rougher too... but what a great course, reminded me of a Phoenix desert course... beautiful green fairways that turn into sand and waste bunkers all along the sides of each hole. Traps were raked, divots filled and the greens large and true... not too fast, but better than your normal muni... highly recommended.

nicest course in metro area
Gorgeous, challenging, requires thought before shot

Course is currently in excellent condition.
The course is currently in excellent condition. The greens and fairways were recently aerated. The greens are especially in great shape!
October 8, 2012
Twisted Dune at aeration time
The Golf Now website should have identifed that the course was in the middle of major aeration which effected play.

Nice golf course in the AC area.
Nice golf course in the AC area. Slightly on the pricy side for overall value. Course in in nice shape but pristine for the money paid.
