Mattawang Golf Club
Met a friend here for golf. We both drove over an hour to play here at 730am with no previous experience playing here. We paid 34 bucks and rode 18. Must say the course was in great shape with challenging holes. Loved the tee boxes for the blue tees. Would drive an hour to play here anyday!!

I am normally not one to leave a review but when you are pleased as I am, i am happy to take the time. Arrived 1 hr prior to tee time to use the driving range on site, yardage markers were clearly marked and the area was in excellent condition.
Tee time was 230 and we started right on time. I was taken back when the starter cleaned out the cart, placed a score card and a pencil and kindy asked if we had any questions.. Very different then what takes places here on Staten Island. The tee boxes were in amazing shape and very few tees were left on the ground as the course provided a small wood box to place broken tees in.
Each hole had 3 stakes in the perfectly cut fairways marking 200,150,100 from the center of the hole.. Really was a big help.
Greens were a bit slow but in excellent condition
Carts were well maintained
Overall i cant wait to go back even with the 50 minute drive from Staten Island.
Only thing i would like to see if for the food on the 9th hole to stay open later on a weekend. Reached that point and 5pm and it was closed up.
Thanks for a great day!

Slow pace was the only issue
Overall it was ok, but a 5 hour round wasn't .we tee'd off at 152 pm on a Saturday and didn't finish till a little after 7.They just seemed to get as many people they could out on the course as they could. The conditions were good overall.Again the only issue was the 5 hour round

Mattawang is a fun course. Plenty of trees and deep bunkers. This course is very challenging and you really have to play it a few time in order to know where the ball needs to be. Overall if you have good course management you should score well.

Pretty well rounded
I enjoyed 18 holes on fairly well conditioned. One thing is that they closed kitchen so early on weekend and no food/drink truck.

Overall this is a very enjoyable course to play. Quite frankly, I think this is the best "bang for your buck" on Golfnow. The staff is very friendly. No pace of play complaints, and well maintained. Some of the maintenance guys stand on the green facing you on some of the par 3's which is bothersome, but I understand this is a part of the maintenance aspect of the course. If you can sneak out on a Friday in the fall this course is listed with some very reasonable prices, and you can play at a very fast pace. I will continue to recommend this course to friends,

Good course, the Greens need work
Overall the course was in very good shape. The greens were a challenge. Hole to hole the speed varied greatly. Some were very slow and others light in fast. In addition the greens had a lot of divots and defects that made smooth rolling balls nearly impossible. If the greens were improved the rating would be near perfect.

Rain but still fair greens
Usually, you would expect heavy rains mid round to change the conditions a lot. Not at Mattawang though. The greens were not fast but stayed fair throughout the 18 hole course from beginning to end. there were two holes that were a bit roughed up, perhaps some major damage on them (hole 3 and another on the back nine). It didn't affect the ball movement too much but does at least a bit.
Overall the course is wide open for driver off the tee and required if hitting from the blue tees which is over 6800 yards. There's a lot of elevation changes throughout the course on different holes with a few doglegs that will make your tee shot important.
Overall, it was a lot of fun at this course. I'll definitely recommend it to anyone for the price especially.
