nice course Fun course, nice greens and fairways, challenging over water shots May 11, 2015
Metamora has a great layout with some memorable holes Our foursome played here for the first time on May 3rd, 2015 during the last day of our annual Michigan golf trip. The track has an excellent mix of difficult and forgiving holes. The layout overall is very beautiful with many memorable and scenic holes. Plenty of elevation changes and blind shots keeps you honest. Many greens are forced-carry over water and can be very tricky to putt on due to undulation and severe slopes. The overall course condition for the first week of May is reasonable, but you do notice a lot of deadspots (mud/clay) along the rough and cart path. Greens are a bit slow during our round and tee boxes were a little beaten up. This may or may not be indicative of their conditions year-round. But I would give Metamora the benefit of the doubt that they would be in much better condition during prime season. Friendly staff, excellent value and a truly wonderful layout makes Metamora a very good place to play. May 4, 2015
Pretty good Course. Nice Views. Some really nice holes but overall did not love the layout but at $25 per round a good value. Challenging for the first time player as course has some tight holes and know where to miss is helpful. Greens are very nice and undulating so playing the course a few times would prove helpful for green reading. At under $30 a good value. May 3, 2015
every good at this course we had a awesome time from the time we got there til we were done what a great staff - even better course it's a upnorth course October 1, 2014
This course was fun and challenging I loved my first round of golf at this course! The staff was very professional and accommodating, the greens were in great condition, and although the course kicked my beginner-golfer bottom, I had an amazing time! I definitely recommend this course to all golfers! September 1, 2014
Great test of golf This course will test all levels of golf shots. From the very straight to the target the must be hit. Great way to tune your game. September 1, 2014
Shot selection/play smart Really enjoyed and will have to play again...really nice course but wish I could have played with someone who knew the course. August 16, 2014
An extremely undulating test of golf. I've heard good things about this course from a few friends, and finally decided to try it out. If I'm going out that way, I usually stop at Boulder Pointe (which is a great track), but this was a very pleasant surprise. They sent us off of #10, and my first impression standing on the "first" tee: WOW! I'm probably biased in saying this, because it was my first experience playing this course, but I truly think the nines should be switched because the view from the 10th tee is like a dream and deserves to be your first impression of the course. Huge sightlines of most of the (very undulating) holes of the back nine, and even a few miles past. Like an "up-north" feel combined with rolling hills like something you'd find in the southern states. Speaking of which, I'd have to compare this to Augusta National in terms of the degree of undulation and slopes. Words/pictures really don't do them justice until you see them first-hand. Other than that, the course is difficult, but not unfairly so. I fortunately had my "A-game" and hit a personal best of 15/18 GIR, with only 7/14 FW. My point, even if you're in trouble off the tee, you still have a solid chance of hitting the greens with not many trees obstructing your view of the green. That being said, you have to give all your focus on hitting solid tee shots, and making sure to play away/around the trouble (lakes, in particular). Now, the greens... I hit 15 of them in reg, but only made 2 birdies. I felt like I was putting rather well with good speed control, but the greens are just pretty speedy and have a lot of break. Hard enough just to make a 4-5ft par save, let alone anything over 15-20ft, which you'll get a lot of even if you're hitting good shots. Play twice as much break as you think most of the time. All in all, a very stern yet fair test of golf that's probably as much of an Augusta National replica as you'll find here in MI. In terms of undulation, at least. Enjoy the views! August 5, 2014
