Great Falls Golf Courses
We won't say a golf course is the grandest of all sights, but a last-minute tee time on a sunny afternoon can really satisfy. Golf now, Great Falls.
In 1805, Meriwether Lewis called the Great Falls of the Missouri "the grandest sight I had ever beheld." But that was before he and his men spent one full month hauling thousands of pounds of cargo 21 miles to portage the falls. 21 miles! His grandest sight soon became … well ... It was June: hot, prickly, dusty. Men and horses fainted in the sun. A punishing grandeur, to say the least. But the hunting was plentiful, and they cooked a huge Independence Day feast when all was said and done. They even enjoyed "a drink of sperits," a toast to the beauty and the burden. Montana, Montana, glory of the West.
