Lake Presidential 4.1 5 37 37
Great course and people. Aeration and conditioning due to winter are current issues. The course is beautiful and challenging for all golfers, but the greens were recently aerated and sanded over. The tough winter has taken its toll on the fairways. Well marked and laid out. April 5, 2013
Course is a must play. The course is absolutely great; however, greens were aerated and the fairway on #5 was one continual sandtrap. This was my 2nd time out and I will definitely play again. April 1, 2013
Love the course.... even though the brownish grass. It did not dampen the enjoyment of the course. The greens were aerated - hard to putt. I would recommend this to anyone but not in the early spring. Wait till the course condition gets better - perhaps late in April. I love the course design.... some holes are challenging and others are easy. March 25, 2013
Long, Difficult, And Somewhat Detatched The famous and proud Lake Presidential. This was the third time to play here. The first time I was very impressed, but the second time I found that the course was not well-maintained. This time the course was OK, but I didn't necessarily like it. The course was made artificially difficult. It's challenging, but not enjoyable. It's popular and crowded, and our tee time was delayed by thirty minutes. We had to stop at the 15th hole because of dusk. The course is located almost 40 miles away from my home. I didn't feel that it's worth driving that much in order to play here. I paid only $19 with promotion thanks to GolfNow, so I shouldn't complain too much. The three guys I played with were all friendly. The weather was nice. It was OK. March 25, 2013
Great course, great overall Golfnow experience!!!! We happened to catch the course on the day they aerated the greens and were doing routine maintenance on the entire course, but the course was great overall. The landscaping was amazing and the holes were challenging but fair. It forced you to play solid shots or you would pay...great risk-reward course. Easy experience with Golfnow and I will definitely book using this service again. March 18, 2013
i like the course although the value was good, I was not informed that the course had just been airified. To include tees, fairways and greens. The plugs had not even been picked up in the fairways. Allthough I know this is necessary, I believe the customer has the right to be informed of this reguardless of the amount of money paid to play the course. March 17, 2013
Long and challenging track Interesting layout. Long par 4s with rolling fairways and undulating greens make for a nice challenge. Nice views of lakes coming into play in predictable ways near greens and running the length of fairways at times, especially on front 9. If you live nearby it is worth a visit; however, I'm not sure it's worth another drive from Virginia. In fairness I did play at end of February so it may be worth trying again mid season. February 26, 2013
Good for February Course has weathered the winter months very well. Club house staff was friendly. We had lunch and bartender/wait staff were excellent. Club sandwich and onion rings is the way to go for lunch! Golf Cart has new GPS sytem, not worth the extra money when it is cart path only, not sure why the course is still using these with all the handheld devices. February 25, 2013
The course was in great shape for winter This course is always tough. Especially from the rough. The greens were a little wet, but still fast. The greens will truly test your putting skills. Seems that there is no flat areas on greens. Even when it looks so. The layout is beautiful. January 31, 2013
This course has as beautiful a back nine and I've played, It is absolutely. Stunning. This was my first time playing Lake Presidential and it was a wonderful experience. The course was in very good condition for the winter, although the greens were a bit unpredictable (winter conditions) I would like to play it in the spring, summer and fall. The club house feels like a resort and the staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. Although it is in a Golf course community, the houses do not come into play and they are far enough from the actual course that you really do not notice them with the exception of one or two holes. On the back nine you do not see a single house. This is a jewel and my playing partner who plays there all of the time and lives in Montgomery county said people from Northern Virginia (that's me) and Montgomery county in Md,where he is from, see this as too difficult to get to because it it is Southern Prince PG County Md, but it Only took me 40 minutes from My home in Northern Virginia. That's ok, I would rather keep this a hidden jewel! I will definitely be back. January 21, 2013
SUNDAY morning round BONUS Lake Presidential starts you with a fantastic experience from the moment you arrive. The majestic clubhouse is very inviting and the pro shop is well-equipped to make sure your experience is reminded with wonderfully designed mechandise. The practice areas are fantastic. From the expansive range, to the enormous putting green, every facet of your warm-up can be accomplished. They also have a teaching center located on site, so if you need a little more instruction, the state-of-the -art, no expense spared, facility can get you going in the right direction; and you may need it for this fair, but challenging course. If you choose to eat before the round , during or after, the clubhouse boasts one of the best venues for enjoying a meal and paying your buddies off to keep quite. The outdoor veranda is perfect for taking in the immense "down the lake" view between 9 and 18. A bonus for Sunday guests is the breakfast buffet. For an additional value, you can enjoy pancakes, jambalaya, and eggs served your way along with a host of other goodies to give you the energy to play this wonderful course. You are guaranteed to enjoy your day at Lake Presidential. A course where spending the day is easy and affordable. SG January 16, 2013
The course was in great shape. The greens were in excellent shape. The GPS in the carts was a nice touch and helped speed up play. The staff was friendly. I would recommend this course to friend. January 14, 2013
AMAZING GREENS The Greens here are in amazing shape for January Golf...Truly worth the $$ I spent. January 12, 2013
Great winter value Played early in the week, course was practically empty so pace of play was great (4hrs). For January the course was in great shape, fairways and greens near summer like conditions even though the greens were somewhat hard (winter) which made for the ball stopping difficult to not even. Ruff was patching in places but that's to be expected, overall the conditions were ideal for winter golf in January. Would only play this course using the Golfnow Hot Deal, lot of course in MD comparable to this course have much better affordable price's. Had a great time hope to visit again during the summer, that if there's discounts on green fees. January 9, 2013
Great course Played in Jan so conditions were as good as can be expected. Greens were in good shape, bunkers well maintained, friendly staff. January 7, 2013
One of the best public-access courses in suburban Maryland. Lake Presidential features an interesting layout with lots of memorable holes. Some holes are extremely difficult, with sloping fairways, runoffs into hazards, and undulating greens. There are some dramatic elevation changes and elevated greens. Some tee and approach shots require substantial carries. I shot about 7 strokes higher than my average score, with several-three putts and double-bogeys. Not easy, but fun. December 21, 2012
Great layout I always wanted to play here . What a challenging course been an intermediate player with two years in the game and pull 100 in this course I think is great the most beautiful course I've ever play December 15, 2012
excellent course in great shape, especially for mid-december. great value for the price we paid. when i made the reservation, i called the course to ask what condition it was in. the friendly young woman at the desk said "great" and then laughed and said - "but you know i have to tell you that in any case!" we both chuckled at the time, but she was absolutely right. much rain the day and night before we played had left the course extremely soggy. still, it was thoroughly playable - made somewhat easier by the fact that they moved the tees up on virtually every hole. had to stick to the cart path - naturally - which slowed the round just a tad, but not that bad. greens were in great shape and that made putting fun. the only reason we played was because of the low rate on GolfNow. usually i find the prices here too high, even for a top-end layout. December 11, 2012
Beautiful! Best greens I've played on all year! Beautiful golf course! No two holes the same. Greens were fantastic (firm and fast) I wish all golf courses in this area could have greens in this shape in December. This is the second time I have played this course, and I can't wait to come back. I can't afford to play this course in peak season, but it is as nice as any private country club I've played (nicer than most). December 9, 2012
Great Greens, Great Course A truly fun course from the opening hole to the last, a chance to use every club in the bag. The greens were firm and fast and every putt rolled true. The personnel in the pro shop and at the snack bar were great . November 25, 2012
Challenging, Great Deal during Fall Great course, fast greens, well maintained fairways, rough, and teeboxes. November 19, 2012
NOT a top of line golf course. I was not too dissapointed with the course ONLY because I got a great deal here. But, I would NEVER pay summertime prices to play here. I agree with the review who put Whiskey Creek WAY above this course. I would also put Maryland National, Hampshire Greens, Northwest, Rasberry Falls, The Woodlands and Renditions WAY ahead of this course. Those courses all have better (less gimmicky) layouts and are all in better shape. The greens at Lake Presidential are nice, but thats it. The tees, the fairways, the rough and the bunkers all leave much to be desired. And for my tastes the layout is just not classy. November 15, 2012
Great Course! For beginner like me, it is really challenging. But I enjoyed playing here and got super refreshment. November 12, 2012
Awesome course! The course is in great condition. The golf carts have GPS in them. The staff were very friendly even i booked the tee time at half price! I would play here more regularly. November 6, 2012
fairways are wide enough for the not so straight hitter Greens are really fast and in good condition and the course is in terrific shape, the driving range could use some work but the balls at the range are free. November 3, 2012
Golf Now + Lake Presidential = Golf Bliss! Lake Presidential or "The Lake" as my friends and I call it, is one of the top 3 courses in the area, right above Swan Point and below Bulle Rock. The course is in immaculate shape year round and it's very challenging. November 2, 2012
Some very nice holes This place is very nice. Greens are very fast. Just wished the fairways were more forgiving a lot of roll you need to hit it straight and be below the hole. October 25, 2012
Great conditions . The best greens in the area.. There is a reason this is the #2 ranked course in Maryland..The conditions were firm fast greens.. Very few courses in the area open to public give you tour like greens.. October 21, 2012
This course is one of the best in the DC area Hitting the fairways is key to a good round at this course. Anything left or right of the fairways, you will have a challenging shot...even from the intermediate rough. The greens were rolling fast and were very well maintained (no divot or ball marks in ten at all). The fairways were cut and well manicured. This was a great course and I highly recommend playing it October 14, 2012
Fun on the Lake. Greeted with a smile upon walking to the clubhouse. Greens well maintained and rolled. Excellent all grass range! Wish the course had better growth in the fairways. Even though the course is set in a housing development, it does not feel like your in someones back yard. The round is well worth money especially with GolfNow deals. October 4, 2012
