Prairie Highlands Golf Course

14695 S. Inverness St. Olathe, KS 66061-6806 URL:   Course Website
Ranked #29 in the Nation in the “Top 50 under $50” Category, Prairie Highlands is a diamond in the rough. Designed by well-known Kansas City golf architect Craig Schreiner and owned by Kansas City native David Francis, Prairie Highlands opened in May of 2001 and has been reaping honors ever since. It has also been ranked No. 3 among the state’s best public courses by both Golf Week and Golf Magazine and was the only Kansas City course in either Kansas or Missouri to be ranked.

The par 72, 7,100-yard golf course was designed truly with the golfer in mind. Following the traditions of the game, the course was designed to be walkable, with short distances from green to tee. Fundamental strategies and abundant shot making opportunities are complimented by pristine zoysia fairways and bent grass greens. Four tee boxes play from 7,100 yards from the back tees, to 5,100 yards from the front tees. Errant tee shots will likely find manicured rough or one of 60 strategically positioned sand bunkers, which makes saving par truly rewarding and a birdie nearly heroic. Only deft putting on subtly contoured bent grass putting greens rewards pinpoint accuracy off the tee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by First time, great impression Course quality (Tee Box, fairways, Greens) great condition considered the hot period we just went through. Ample water stations which helped keep us hydrated for the round. Good selection of distance, hazards, pin positions. Carts were in short supply but got 2 in time for Tee off. Bonus; We got to see the B29/B25/P51/F4U war planes performing over Gardener airfield...we seemed to be in the middle of the circuit!! We will be back... September 28, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent Value Tee boxes, faiwys were excellent. Greens were a little beat up. I love this course. Links style, very open. For those of you who hate trees, play here! September 27, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Prairie Highlands An excellent golf course with perfect fairways and very fast greens. The only distractor we had was the two golfers in front of us held us up on every hole. September 22, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Wonderful playing conditions Fantastic conditions. Bunkers were like concrete due to recent rain September 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great layout. Great course, wonderful design. Challenging, yet not too difficult. Would definitely play again. September 21, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Sadly declining, once great course Bunkers were full with 6-8" of standing water and needed to be pumped out. Saturday & 70 in KC is prime time golf opportunity. Carts were old and need to be replaced. The beverage cart frequency William_A_Summers outstanding! Had access many times. No sugar free or low sugar options with Gatorade or comparable. Rated 3 out of 5 by Prairie Highlands I thought it was great took $25 from my friend and he whined big time... September 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good Value Course Fairways and tee boxes are in excellent shape. As with most public courses the greens courses the greens are somewhat scuffed up (repair your ball marks people). Most of the sand traps are in need of some work to improve condition. the speed of play was very acceptable. Due to interstate construction the facility is a little bit awkward to get to it. Very good value for our group as seniors. Overall I would have to recommend this course to those who have not played it. August 21, 2015
